Having recently released all three of their previous albums digitally, Dark Metallers FOSCOR have now released some rare tracks including previously unreleased material, and material that has long since sold out, as well as the entire soundtrack of their 10th Anniversary live DVD “Deu Anys Vers la Foscor”. Included in the new releases are the XERIÓN cover “Na Noite Dos Tempos” which was originally included in the 2002 split Cd/Tape “XERIÓN vs. FOSCOR”; the 2008 track “The Ghost Sonata” which was exclusively composed for the never released “Toteninsel: A Tribute to Arnold Böcklin” album (which is available for free download); and the song “The Other’s Voice” which was originally included in the long-since sold out 2010 split 7” EP with NECROSADIST “Onslaught of Black Putrefaction”. The new material, together with the three full-length albums, 2004′s “Entrance to the Shadows’ Village”, 2007′s “The Smile of the Sad Ones” and 2009′s “Groans to the Guilty”, all three of which come with their individual booklets, can be found at https://foscor.bandcamp.com/music

Commenting on the decision to release previous material digitally, frontman Fiar said: “FOSCOR is entering a whole new phase of its existence, and many new fans have started following the band, fans that perhaps don’t really know our history, and it seemed like the ideal way to let them find out about us. When we released the three albums we offered them for free download for a month as a thank you to old and new fans, and we received an extraordinary response, with many people actually paying for the albums, rather than downloading them free, and that certainly gives us a lot of confidence for the future”.
As well as on BandCamp, the back catalogue, including the new material is also available to stream on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/FOSCORbcn

FOSCOR recently completed work on their fourth full-length album “Those Horrors Wither” and are currently looking for a label. Starting out with a sound that was traditional 90′s Black Metal, FOSCOR have, over the years, refined their style to include Doom and Dark Rock, majestic interludes and a healthy flirtation with Prog. Unafraid to experiment, FOSCOR have taken the unusual step of asking the guests set to appear on “Those Horrors Wither”, to write and perform connecting passages between the tracks, rather than a straightforward guest appearance on an individual track, something which the band feels has worked extremely well, and gives the album a sense of individuatly.

Dark Metallers FOSCOR have today released their entire back catalogue which includes the band’s first three full-length albums – 2004′s “Entrance to the Shadows’ Village”,  2007′s “The Smile of the Sad Ones” and 2009′s “Groans to the Guilty”.  Each album includes  lyrics and information.  All three albums will be released digitally from the 6th March, and will be available for free download for the first month.  They can be found at https://foscor.bandcamp.com/music

As well as on BandCamp, the back catalogue will also be available to stream on YouTube at http://www.youtube.com/user/FOSCORbcn.

With over a decade in the music scene, FOSCOR recently announced that the band’s natural musical progression and development has led to a change in style away from the traditional 90′s Black Metal mixed with other classical and modern extreme styles, for which they became know.  Breaking free from the restrictions the genre places on bands has enabled FOSCOR to expand their sound to include shades of Doom and Dark Rock, majestic interludes and a healthy flirtation with Prog.  Frontman Fiar is quick to point out though that fans will still recognise the distinctive FOSCOR style, which the band have not rejected, but have made better, and which will be very much in evidence in the band’s newly completed  fourth full-length album “Those Horrors Wither”.

Currently in search of a label for “Those Horrors Wither”, FOSCOR has chosen a somewhat unusual direction with the guest appearances on the album.  Instead of the expected vocals or instrumental solos, the notable guests have written and performed connecting passages between the tracks.

When Dark Metallers FOSCOR celebrated the Tenth Anniversary of their debut album in 2012, they were not just marking a decade of music; they were also drawing a line under one era in the band’s history, and preparing to embark on the next and most ambitious one.   With work on FOSCOR’s fourth full-length album now completed, and a complete visual overhaul of their online presence and logo, the groundwork for the new phase in the band’s career is well and truly established.

Formed in 1997 in Barcelona, in the Catalan region of Spain, FOSCOR took the traditional ‘90s Black Metal and mixed it with other classical and modern extreme styles to create a sound that has seen them through the release of 3 full-length albums, a live DVD commemorating their 10th Anniversary, 2 split releases and contributions on Official KATATONIA and ENSLAVED tribute albums, all of which have garnered them respect and a solid, and ever-growing, following.  Now, with their forthcoming album, which will be titledThose Horrors Wither”, FOSCOR has honed its considerable musical skills and decided to take the first gigantic step away from the confines of Black Metal, towards an expansive multidimensional sound that encompasses shades of Doom and Dark Rock, Ambient interludes and a healthy flirtation with Prog.  It is a step that most clearly defines the band’s personal approach to their work, both musically and aesthetically, to date.

Commenting on the new sound and the new image of FOSCOR, founder and guitarist Falke and frontman Fiar had this to say: “It’s really not that strange that we would be moving in a different direction from the one we started out on because it’s a natural progression that comes from experience.  We’re not saying that our long-time fans will wake up one morning and not recognise FOSCOR any more, not at all, because we have a particular style that is recognisable as FOSCOR – but we’ve taken that style and made it into something better.  You could say that the new FOSCOR is evolution, not revolution, and, that being said, it actually needs new colours to define how we interpret “Darkness”, and IDEOPHONY, who has previously worked with us on design, is the perfect partner to work with us in physically visualising our new direction”.

FOSCOR are currently looking for a label to release “Those Horrors Wither”, which includes some notable guest artists, who, somewhat unusually, rather than contributing the usual vocals or solos, have written and performed connecting passages between the tracks.  More information about FOSCOR can be found on the band’s website, which has been newly designed, at http://www.foscor.com

Having begun recording their fourth full-length album in March of this year, and following their recent success at the Primavera Sound Festival, Dark Metallers FOSCOR have issued an update on the progress of the album, as well as a news of other projects that the band’s members are involved in.  Work on the new album, which will be titled “Those Horrors Wither” is progressing well, with almost all the clean vocals now having been recorded, which brings the recording close to being finished.  The band plans to enter the  Nautilus Studios in Barcelona again in late July to begin mixing, and once this is finished, they estimate that the album will be ready to send to the Orgone Studios ( ULVER, GHOST, CATHEDRAL, HEXVESSEL, CODE, AURA NOIR, PRIMORDIAL ) for mastering around August time before beginning a label search.

As previously hinted “Those Horrors Wither” will expand FOSCOR’s sound out of the strict confines of Black Metal, a direction the Barcelona-based band, who celebrated their 10th Anniversary last year, could clearly be seen to be taking since the release of their previous album, 2009’s “Groans to the Guilty”.   Guest performers have been lined up for the album, but it is expected that their contributions will be somewhat out of the ordinary in that they will serve as “interludes” throughout, that is to say they will be used as connecting passages between tracks, rather than performances on specific tracks.

FOSCOR’s members have also been kept busy with other projects over the past few months.  Frontman and bassist Fiar has taken on the role of live session vocalist for Spanish Death Metallers GRAVEYARD and can be seen appearing with the band on various dates throughout the summer and autumn, including the Obscene Extreme Fest in the Czech Republic,  Party.San in Germany and the South Bangers Fest IV in Spain.  More information about GRAVEYARD can be found at https://www.facebook.com/deathmetalgraveyard

Guitarist Falke in the meantime has also been working on other projects.  The first is SOUL ASIDE, a band that he formed in 2010 fusing Metal with Alternative Rock. The band’s debut self-titled album was released in April of this year.  More information about SOUL ASIDE can be found at http://soulaside.bandcamp.com/

Falke, who is responsible for FOSCOR’s own video for the track “I Tornà de les Cendres” as well as the band’s 10th Anniversary DVD, has also directed, edited and co-produced the latest music video for the Nature Driven Black Metal band LUX DIVINA.  The video, for the track “After Great Pain” from LUX DIVINA’s recently released album ” Possessed by Telluric Feelings” can be seen at http://youtu.be/HcdO21-cQhE

Dark Metallers FOSCOR are in the Nautilus Studios in Barcelona to begin recording their fourth full-length album.  The new album, to be titled “Those Horrors Wither”, is the follow up to 2009’s “Groans to the Guilty” and marks an expansion in the band’s musical direction, away from the strict confines of Black Metal.  Work has already started on the drum tracks, and FOSCOR will be posting regular updates and photos from the recording sessions on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/foscor.official

With a current lineup that comprises Falke (SOUL ASIDE, FAYRIERIE, ex-LUX DIVINA) and A.M. (ex-VIDRES A LA SANG) on guitars, Fiar (MELANGIA, DAWN OV HATE, CABESTRO, live session vocalist for GRAVEYARD) on Bass and Vocals, and Nechrist (ex-SHEMHAMPHORASH) on drums, FOSCOR was formed in Barcelona in 1997 and spent their first decade blending the best of ‘90’s Old School Black Metal with both traditional and modern extreme metal styles.  With three full-length albums, three splits, and appearances on KATATONIA and ENSLAVED tributes under their belts, the band released a live DVD in 2012 to commemorate their 10th Anniversary.  But more than just a commemoration, the DVD also represents the end of one era for the band, whilst “Those Horrors Wither”, for which a label is being sought, represents the beginning of the next.

Commenting on the new direction, FOSCOR founders Falke and Fiar had this to say: “We have been developing our direction and sound since the very beginning, and now we feel we have reached the stage where our musical abilities have increased to the extent where we can express ourselves fully though our music in the way we always wanted and we have truly come into our own.  We don’t really know how you would classify the new direction, but we have expanded our musical horizons, dipping into doom, and even moments of prog, whilst keeping the claustrophobic black atmosphere.  I guess you could say that the new album will be much more multi-dimensional.  Fans who have been with us from the start will have probably had some kind of inkling as to the direction we will be taking, and we hope they will be very satisfied with what they are going to hear.  There’s a lot of work yet to be done and we will try to keep everyone updated every step of the way.  Darkness will speak again…”

FOSCOR’s next live appearance will be on the 21st May at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona where they will support GODFLESH at the Sala Apolo.  More information about FOSCOR can be found on the band’s website at http://www.foscor.com

Dark Metallers FOSCOR, who have been celebrating the Tenth Anniversary of the recording of their first promo, have decided to go old-school by releasing live material in Pro-Tape format.  “Deu Anys Vers la Foscor”, which translated from the band’s native Catalan means “Ten Years Towards Darkness”, was originally released as a DVD last year on the Darkwoods label and included live footage of the band’s appearance at the Sala KGB in Barcelona and it is the soundtrack of that appearance has been released on the tape.

The Pro-Tape of “Deu Anys Vers la Foscor” is strictly limited to 100 hand-numbered copies, and is released in February on Ruptura Records.  Track listing as follows:

SIDE A – SENY-
I. Groans to the Guilty
II. Raids to Punishment
III. The Smile of the Sad Ones
IV. Searching a Seal of Pain (The Beauty)
V. Melangia

SIDE B – RAUXA -
VI. El Palau dels Plors
VII. Al Cor de la Boscúria
VIII. The Other’s Voice
IX. I Tornà de les Cendres

Formed in 1997 in Barcelona, Spain, FOSCOR’s lineup comprises Falke (SOUL ASIDE, FAYRIERIE, ex-LUX DIVINA) and A.M. (ex-VIDRES A LA SANG) on guitars, Fiar (MELANGIA, DAWN OV HATE, CABESTRO, live session vocalist for GRAVEYARD) on Bass and Vocals and Nechrist (ex-SHEMHAMPHORASH) on drums.  The band is currently working on their fourth full-length album, a follow up to 2009’s “Groans to the Guilty”, for which a label is currently being sought.  Like many bands that started out initially playing pure Black Metal, FOSCOR have developed and expanded their sound, and the new album promises a few surprises.  More information about FOSCOR can be found on the band’s website at http://www.foscor.com

It’s been ten years since Black Metallers FOSCOR released their debut album, and 2012 will see the band celebrating the decade with a series of events starting off with a show at the Sala KGB in Barcelona on the 28th January, where the band will also launch a new commemorative merchandise and the release of their first ever DVD. Titled “Deu Anys Vers La Foscor” which translated from the band’s native Catalan means “Ten Years Towards Darkness”, the DVD, which is edited by the band’s guitarist Falke, includes live footage of FOSCOR’s 2010 appearance at the Sala KGB in Barcelona, along with a documentary chronicling the last ten years, and the music video for the track “I Tornà de les Cendres” from the 2007 album “The Smile of the Sad Ones”.  Also included will be two commemorative A3 posters, one which features the cover art etching by Cynthia Meier-Dusol entitled “Nous Sommes Condamnés À Être Libres”, and the second one features the Funeral Stone design, by Ideophony, which also appears on the band’s new stage sets and merchandise. The artwork on the DVD itself is by Dios Perezoso.   “Deu Anys Vers La Foscor” will be released on the Darkwoods label on the 28th January and comes in A5 format and is limited to 250 hand numbered copies.  Below you can see the video trailer for FOSCOR’s “Deu Anys Vers La Foscor”

Although it’s been ten years since their first release, FOSCOR was in fact formed in 1997 in Barcelona, Spain, and is not only one of the few Black Metal bands hailing from that city, but also one of only a handful of bands that uses the Catalan language of the region in some of the lyrics. With three full length albums under their belts, the last one being “Groans to the Guilty” in 2009, FOSCOR are currently working on their next album, and have contributed a track to the album “ÖND – A Tribute to Enslaved”, which is due for release later this year.

Frontman Fiar commented “We wanted to make 2012 something special.  Aside from all the live appearances we are currently planning, we are also welcoming a new lead guitarist, A.M. (formerly of VIDRES A LA SANG) who will be replacing Wilhkiem who has left the band after being with us for seven years.  We have also formalized our relationship with Patricia Thomas, the UK-based manager who has been a personal friend for several years now, and who works with some amazing names in Black and Extreme Metal, both legendary and upcoming.  So it’s very much the end of one era for FOSCOR and the beginning of a new one. One which we are all looking forward to”.   More information about FOSCOR can be found on the band’s website at http://www.foscor.com
