When it was announced that Swedish rockers ALFAHANNE had inked a deal with DARK ESSENCE RECORDS nobody could fail to recognise what a considerable achievement it was for this relatively young band to have been chosen for inclusion amongst the well established, and in some cases legendary names that feature in the much respected Norwegian label’s roster. All the more so when you consider that three of the most recognised vocalists in today’s Extreme Metal scene – TAAKE’s Hoest, SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, and HELHEIM’s V’gandr had all agreed to guest on the band’s 2014 debut full-length album “Alfapocalypse”.
Formed in 2010 ALFAHANNE itself might be a fairly new name to a lot of people, the band’s lineup, which includes Pehr Skjoldhammer on Vocals and Guitar, Fredrik Sööberg on Guitars, Niklas Åström on Drums and Jimmy Wiberg on Bass, have been around the Black Metal scene since the early ‘90’s, playing in bands like VINTERLAND and early MAZE OF TORMENT. Skjoldhammer in fact was one of the featured guest vocalists on the upcoming release from SHINING’s “8 ½ – Feberdrömmar I Vaket Tillstånd. ALFAHANNE’s collaboration with NIKLAS KVARFORTH harks back to 2013 with the appearance of the band’s debut release the “Grym” split 7” with SHINING.
Playing what the band calls “Alfapocalyptic Rock”, which mixes Black Metal with Classic Rock and Punk, and topping it all off with some Goth influences, ALFAHANNE has created a style of music that is powerful and beautiful, yet ugly at the same time, and about which the band says: “When you are into it you don´t feel pleasure and you don´t feel pain but you definitely FEEL”.
ALFAHANNE signed with the UK-based manager Patricia Thomas, who manages some of the more established and legendary artists such as CARPATHIAN FOREST, SHINING, former Mayhem frontman MANIAC, RAGNAROK, as well as some of the best from the new generation of Extreme Metal musicians, and made their stage debut at 2014’s Inferno Metal Festival, and their performance received universal praise for its energy and showmanship. They are already confirmed for several festival appearances this year, and recently signed a booking agreement with The Damager agency.
