Extreme electro/industrial metallers ABORYM have premiered the first song from their upcoming album entitled Dirty. The track, “Irreversible Crisis” can be heard below or streamed at http://youtu.be/8f57gssYUK0

The 10-track double album, which is the band’s sixth full-length will be available in digipak, jewel case and gatefold double LP formats,  and will appear on Agonia Records on the 28th May in Europe and the 11th June in the USA/North America.  “Dirty” was recorded at the Fear No One Studios in Italy with Emiliano Natali, reprising his Sound Engineers role from the band’s “Psychogrotesque” album, and it is helmed by Marc Urselli of New York’s Eastside Sound Studio who has worked with the likes of MIKE PATTON and LOU REED.  The electronic part of the album is engineered by D. Loop (KEBABTRAUME, LIMBO). R.G. Narchost (STORMCROW, DEMON’S SHADE, DROWNING ASHES) created “The Spiral shaped chamber” custom sounds library for the band.  Artwork for the album is by ABORYM’s Fabban.

The first CD of the album features new material, whilst the second CD features two tracks from previous albums, which have been completely re-arranged and re-recorded, covers of tracks by IRON MAIDEN, PINK FLOYD and NINE INCH NAILS, and a previously unreleased track performed by both musicians such as Agonia BV, Tamara Picardo, Samuel Heru Ra Ha MK, Hostis, Ulven, Mike Bizzini, David Cholasta, Tobias Dünnebacke, Jonathan Butcher, Jessy Lavallee, Thomas Hochstetler, Mary J. Rooks, Amanda Neilson and Mark Llewellyn, as well as several fans. The song was written by Alberto Penzin (CO2, ex Schizo) and was spliced together from all the different sources. Track listing on “Dirty” as follows:

CD 1
Irreversible Crisis
Across the Universe
Dirty
Bleedthrough
Raped by Daddy
I don’t Know
The Factory of Death
Helter Skelter Youth
Face the Reptile
The Day the Sun Stopped Shining

Need for limited loss (new track)

Formed in 1992 by frontman Fabban, ABORYM started life as a covers band and went through several transformations, eventually pioneering what the band calls Hard-Industrial-Electro Extreme Metal.  Today’s line up consists of Italians Fabban on vocals, bass and Synths and Paolo Pieri (HOUR OF PENANCE) on guitars, keyboards and programming, together with Norway’s Bard “Faust” Eithun (BLOOD TSUNAMI, MONGO NINJA, ex EMPEROR) on drums.

With “Dirty” being the band’s first release since 2010’s “Psychogrotesque”, all three musicians have something to say about it.

Guitarist Paolo Pieri commented: “This is definitely the most schizoid and experimental ABORYM work so far. This time we focused on pushing the boundaries of electronic music one step forward while retaining the ruthless brutality of extreme metal in a way totally ahead of the times”.

Drummer Bard “Faust” Eithun added: “This time around ABORYM push everything further; the electronic and industrial elements have never been so present. Rest assured, no matter how sick, twisted and beyond everything it sounds, it is still ABORYM.

The last word falls to founder Fabban: “I believe that “Dirty” represents the best material ever written by ABORYM from 1992 until today.  Given that it wasn’t that easy to go beyond an album such as Psychogrotesque, I strongly believe that this time we did exceed every limit and every concept of experimentation – manipulating all the clichès of extreme metal, industrial or electronic music and pushing together elements that are so far away from each other. As a result, we achieved something really innovative, powerful, refined and of a really high standard. The quality of sounds, the nuances, the details passing through the recording quality;  the quality of the machines that we used and abused, the quality of the lyrics, the artwork and the performances of each of us and of all the people who have worked with us, are definitely all at the top. “Dirty” is a record that simply expands the range of our listeners, it’s an album that everyone can enjoy and really appreciate. I am personally very excited and, at the same time, really proud of what you’ll soon be able to listen to. We worked so hard for the past two years on this double album that we have no words to really explain how excited we are to finally see it released. It’s an album that will further change the history of extreme music. Of that I have no doubt.”

Following an announcement on the band’s Facebook page recently, Sweden’s SHINING has revealed the artwork for the upcoming split with MORTUARY DRAPE as well as posting a teaser for the SHINING track.  Titled “In the Eerie Cold Where All the Witches Dance” and set for release on Primitive Art Records, the 7” vinyl will contain an exclusive track from each of the bands.  The two tracks will only be released on the split and will not appear on any album.  The teaser for the track can be heard above and at http://soundcloud.com/shining-official/shining-teaser-from-in-the

Commenting about the SHINING track on the original announcement of the split, frontman and founder Niklas Kvarforth said: “In 1998 a song was written which was intended for inclusion on our first album. However, somehow we were not able to record it properly, whichforced us to re-record “Endless Solitude” instead. At the next Abyss session we faced the same problem and after that, the then-titled “One With The Endless”, was left out as we were certain the song had a curse written all over it. Quite recently, we gave it a third shot, and this time the curse was embraced instead of the opposite. A strange phenomena reinventing itself in every way possible, and, for some odd reason, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t write any suitable lyrics, and once again considered leaving it be. I did however have a very close friend of mine in the studio who not only came up with a new lyrical theme for the song but was also given my full blessings to sing it”.

Atmospheric Black Metallers FEN are set to reissue their 2009 debut album “The Malediction Fields” as a limited edition vinyl pressing on Germany’s Eisenwald Productions.  The album, which was first released on CD by Code666, has been re-mastered by frontman The Watcher, and features two exclusive bonus tracks and new artwork and layout by bassist Grungyn.  “The Malediction Fields” will appear as a gatefold double LP, strictly limited to 500 copies, of which 300 will be on classic black vinyl and 200 on copper-coloured vinyl.  Release date is expected to be late April, to coincide with the band’s upcoming European tour supporting AGALLOCH.

Drawing their inspiration from the desolate Fen region in England, The Watcher (guitars and vocals) and Grungyn (bass and vocals), formed FEN in 2006, and today’s lineup includes Derwydd on drums.  The band’s sound has been variously described as post-black metal, shoegaze and progressive, but however you choose to label it, the music of Fen manages to meld the cold rage of Black Metal with introspection and reflection to create a distinctive, other-worldly atmosphere.   “Dustwalker” the band’s third full-length album was released in January on Code666, with whom the band recently signed a deal for a further three albums.

FEN are set to appear at the Depressive Fest in Moscow on the 13th April and the Phantoms on Pilsen Festival in the Czech Republic in October. Bergen-based DARK ESSENCE RECORDS, the Norwegian label whose roster features not only some of the most respected and long- standing Black and Extreme Metal artists in the business, but also some of the most talented upcoming bands, showcases no less than seven of its bands at this year’s Inferno Festival.  One of Europe’s foremost music festivals Inferno takes place annually in Oslo, and this year runs for four days from the 27th to the 30th March http://www.infernofestival.net

Opening night of the festival, which is effectively the club night, sees four of the bands appearing at Blå .  Post Rockers KRAKOW (http://www.krakowofficial.com/), whose critically acclaimed sophomore album “diin” was release in Autumn of last year, kick off  the evening at 21:00, followed by Melodic Extreme Metallers COR SCORPII (http://www.corscorpii.net/ ), who are currently working on their next album.   Third band on will be VULTURE INDUSTRIES (http://www.vulture-industries.net/ ), a band whose skilled interpretation of avant-garde extreme metal, coupled with the highly theatrical and manic performance of frontman Bjornar Nilsen, makes for a fascinating live show.  Topping the bill will be HELHEIM (http://helheim.com/ ) one of the original Norwegian Viking Metal bands who celebrate their historical roots both in their music and in the visual effects used in their live performances, and who have been together for over twenty years.  Information about how to get to Blå can be found at http://www.blaaoslo.no/

Thursday 28th sees another band celebrate its twentieth anniversary when TAAKE headlines on the Rockefeller stage at 23:00.   TAAKE frontman HOEST will also be holding a signing session at 15:00 in the Shadowland record store (http://www.shadowland.no/ ), Torggata 36 (200 meters from the Rockefeller). Formed in 1993, TAAKE’s contribution to the Norwegian Black Metal Scene has been considerable; with founder Hoest remaining true to his Black Metal roots, whilst still being able to breathe life and originality into the genre even after twenty years.  The band recently released  “Gravkamre, Kroner og Troner” (Tombs, Crowns and Thrones),  a  double Anniversary CD which feature exclusive new tracks as well as rare and previously unreleased material, alternative versions of previously released tracks and recordings that have, until now, only been available on vinyl. More information about TAAKE at http://taake.svartekunst.no/

AETERNUS will hit the Rockeffeler stage on Friday 29th at 19:45, a few days in advance of the release of “…And The Seventh His Soul Detesteth”, the band’s seventh full-length album.  Founded in 1993 by guitarist and frontman Ares, AETERNUS has re-emerged seven years after the release of their last album “Hexaeon” with a new line up that comprises Ares on guitars and vocals, Phobos (GRAVDAL, MALSAIN) on drums and Specter on guitars.  One of the pioneers of what the band calls “Dark Metal”, AETERNUS’ sound combines features from both Black Metal and Death Metal with superlative guitar playing and occasional haunting, melodic interludes.  More information about AETERNUS can be found at https://www.facebook.com/Aeternusofficial

Saturday 30th, the last day of the festival, also sees the last of the DARK ESSENCE RECORDS bands to appear.  HADES ALMIGHTY will play on the Rockefeller Stage at 19:45, and incidentally they were one of the bands who performed at the very first Inferno Festival in 2001.  Apart from the occasional live appearance from the trio of Janto on Bass and Lead Vocals, Jorn on Guitars and Synth and Remi on Drums and vocals, things have been relatively quiet since the re-release in 2004 of their 2001 classic “The Pulse of Decay”, but the band has been busy behind the scenes working on the next album.  More information about HADES  ALMIGHTY can be found at http://www.hades-almighty.com/

“Beginning/Relieve”, the first release on Karisma Records from the label’s latest signing SEVEN IMPALE, is set to appear world-wide on the 5th April.  The five-track EP will be released digitally, and serves as an appetiser for SEVEN IMPALE’s debut full-length album, which the band will shortly begin recording at the Duper Studios in Bergen.  Iver Sandøy, who produced KRAKOW’s “diin” and co-produced ENSLAVED’s “Riitiir”, will be at the helm.  The title track from “Beginning/Relieve” was recently debuted on Karisma Record’s SoundCloud page and can be heard at at http://soundcloud.com/karisma-records/seven-impale-begining-relieve

Formed in Bergen, Norway in 2010, SEVEN IMPALE’s relatively young lineup consists of  Stian Økland on vocals and guitars, Fredrik Mekki Widerøe on drums, Benjamin Mekki Widerøe on sax, Tormod Fosso on bass, Erlend Vottvik Olsen on guitar and Håkon Vinje on keyboards.   What sets the band apart from many of the new arrivals on the scene is the diversity of musical disciplines that the members bring with them.  From classical orchestra to big band, metal to jazz and rock to electronic, SEVEN IMPALE have fused all their experience and influences and created a sound that is uniquely theirs. From the hard-hitting “Blind To All” to the progressive and jazzy “What Am I Sane For?” and the softer “Measure 15”, “Beginning/Relieve” shows some of the many sides of the band and is the perfect introduction for the great things fans can expect from them.

As was previously hinted at, Niklas Kvarforth’s SHINING is to be the subject of a documentary which is being produced for release in cinemas.  The documentary, which is the idea of Martin Strandberg of Sweden’s Black Shadows Film Productions, will chart the often turbulent history of the band, and includes candid interviews with the people who have been most closely involved with SHINING in one way or another over the years, including family, friends and former band members. A video teaser for the documentary was released recently, and English subtitles have now been added.  The teaser can be below and at http://youtu.be/OzZuVhG_vZE

Commenting on the project Kvarforth said: ”We keep being asked about the documentary, but we are as much in the dark about it as everyone else.  It’s Martin’s project, and we have no input into it at all other than as interviewees.  We shall see what we shall see.”

Dark Metallers FOSCOR are in the Nautilus Studios in Barcelona to begin recording their fourth full-length album.  The new album, to be titled “Those Horrors Wither”, is the follow up to 2009’s “Groans to the Guilty” and marks an expansion in the band’s musical direction, away from the strict confines of Black Metal.  Work has already started on the drum tracks, and FOSCOR will be posting regular updates and photos from the recording sessions on their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/foscor.official

With a current lineup that comprises Falke (SOUL ASIDE, FAYRIERIE, ex-LUX DIVINA) and A.M. (ex-VIDRES A LA SANG) on guitars, Fiar (MELANGIA, DAWN OV HATE, CABESTRO, live session vocalist for GRAVEYARD) on Bass and Vocals, and Nechrist (ex-SHEMHAMPHORASH) on drums, FOSCOR was formed in Barcelona in 1997 and spent their first decade blending the best of ‘90’s Old School Black Metal with both traditional and modern extreme metal styles.  With three full-length albums, three splits, and appearances on KATATONIA and ENSLAVED tributes under their belts, the band released a live DVD in 2012 to commemorate their 10th Anniversary.  But more than just a commemoration, the DVD also represents the end of one era for the band, whilst “Those Horrors Wither”, for which a label is being sought, represents the beginning of the next.

Commenting on the new direction, FOSCOR founders Falke and Fiar had this to say: “We have been developing our direction and sound since the very beginning, and now we feel we have reached the stage where our musical abilities have increased to the extent where we can express ourselves fully though our music in the way we always wanted and we have truly come into our own.  We don’t really know how you would classify the new direction, but we have expanded our musical horizons, dipping into doom, and even moments of prog, whilst keeping the claustrophobic black atmosphere.  I guess you could say that the new album will be much more multi-dimensional.  Fans who have been with us from the start will have probably had some kind of inkling as to the direction we will be taking, and we hope they will be very satisfied with what they are going to hear.  There’s a lot of work yet to be done and we will try to keep everyone updated every step of the way.  Darkness will speak again…”

FOSCOR’s next live appearance will be on the 21st May at the Primavera Sound Festival in Barcelona where they will support GODFLESH at the Sala Apolo.  More information about FOSCOR can be found on the band’s website at http://www.foscor.com
