SHINING QUITS INDIE AND SIGNS WITH SPINEFARM – ALBUM RELEASE DATE SET

SHINING founder Niklas Kvarforth announced today that the band has parted company with label Indie Recordings, and has instead signed with Spinefarm Records. The front man, who late last month announced that he was quitting all his other projects, with the exception of Maniac’s SKITLIV, so that he could concentrate on SHINING, is keen to stress that the parting from Indie is completely amicable explaining that “There is absolutely no bad blood between SHINING and Indie Recordings. We sat down together and talked everything through, and everyone came to the conclusion that the best way for SHINING to grow and develop would be to sign the band to a label with the size and experience of Spinefarm. I would like to thank Indie for putting the interests of the band first and allowing this to deal to happen”.

The surprise move also means that SHINING’s much delayed seventh full length album will now appear on Spinefarm rather than Indie, with a release date having been set for the 25^th May. Commenting on the upcoming release and the new cooperation with Spinefarm, Kvarforth had this to say: “VII / Född Förlorare” has been long in coming due to a series of unfortunate delays, none of which had anything to do with Indie, and it is a relief to all of us that it will finally see the light of day. I personally am extremely happy to be working with Spinefarm’s Teemu, and am confident that SHINING will now be able to go from strength to strength”.

TROLLFEST CONFIRMED FOR HEIDENFEST EURO TOUR WITH FINNTROLL, ARKONA, ALESTORM + SPECIAL GUESTS

TROLLFEST has been confirmed to join the Heidenfest European Tour 2011, along with FINNTROLL, ARKONA, ALESTORM and Special Guests

SOPHOMORE ALBUM FROM BLACK METALLERS ZIFIR OUT ON DUNKELKUNST PRODUCTIONS

“Protest Against Humanity”, the second full-length album from Black Metallers ZIFIR has been released on the Dunkelkunst Productions label, a subsidiary of Kunsthauch Productions. The nine-track album is the follow up to ZIFIR’s 2007 debut full-length “You Must Come With Us”, and is limited to 666 copies. Track listing for “Protest Against Humanity” as follows:

NIKLAS KVARFORTH QUITS OTHER PROJECTS TO CONCENTRATE ON SHINING

The following statement was issued today by SHINING founder and front man Niklas Kvarforth.

“A lot of things have been happening recently with SHINING, and the rapid growth of the band over the last year, and the commitment that SHINING now requires of me has meant that it has become impractical for me to continue working as vocalist with other bands.

This includes my work with BETHLEHEM, who themselves realised that the band could not continue with myself on vocals. BETHLEHEM is still my all-time favourite band and I wish them all the best for the future.

I will also be quitting as front man for DEN SAAKALDTE.

From now on, therefore, I will only be making occasional guest vocal appearances on albums by other bands, and my priority will be SHINING. My work with Maniac’s band SKITLIV will not be affected, however, as the vocals and the bulk of the creative work is in his hands.

As always, myself and the band very much appreciate all the support the fans are giving SHINING and their patience in waiting for the release of VII, and there will be some very good news regarding this very shortly”.

TROLLFEST LAUNCHES VIDEO CONTEST AND WEEKLY VIDEOS IN RUN UP TO ALBUM RELEASE

With the imminent release of their fourth full length album “En Kvest For Den Hellige Gral”, self-styled “True Norwegian Balkan Metallers” TROLLFEST have decided to celebrate the occasion by uploading a series of weekly videos on YouTube in the five week run up to the April 29 release of the album on NoiseArt Records. The first week’s video is a Tour Diary shot during the band’s German tour with PANTHEON I and FINSTERFORST in December of last year and can be seen on TrollfesT’s YouTube channel at http://www.youtube.com/oivan. A new video will follow every Friday, with the last one appearing on the 22^nd April.

In addition, the band is inviting fans who have videos of themselves playing/performing TROLLFEST songs to post their videos on the band’s Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/trollfestofficial and the best video will be awarded some TROLLFEST prizes, with the winner being announced on the 30^th April. Commenting on the competition the band said: “We noticed quite a few videos of people playing TROLLFEST tracks appearing on YouTube and really enjoyed them, so we thought it would be a good idea to mark the release of ““En Kvest For Den Hellige Gral” with a little competition. As a band we love the interaction with fans and the competitions we have are a way of us all having fun together”. The winner will be announced on the 30^th April.

Aside from signing with NoiseArt Records this year, TROLLFEST, whose line up is composed of members of bands such as URGEHAL, PANTHEON I, UNTIME, MELCH, SARKOM, HALLUCINATIONS and POWERSWORD, also signed a world-wide booking deal with Rock The Nation, which will see the band increasing its live appearances. HELHEIM TO DEBUT TRACK FROM UPCOMING ALBUM ON U.S. COMMUNITY RADIO – ALBUM DETAILS REVEALED

Norwegian Viking Metallers HELHEIM are set to debut a track from their upcoming album “Heiðindómr ok Mótgangr” on Derek Rice’s “Raise the Dead” show on the US Community Radio station KDVS, Davis 90.3FM. As well as debuting the track, titled “Viten og Mot (Stolthet)”, the show will feature an interview with HELHEIM vocalist/bassist V’gandr (TAAKE, AETERNUS). “Raise the Dead” will air at midnight on Friday 18th March California time / 08:00 a.m. Saturday 19^th Central European Time – and can be streamed live at http://www.kdvs.org/show-info/1466. “Heiðindómr ok Mótgangr” will be HELHEIM’s seventh full-length album, and it follows on last November’s release of the MCD “Åsgards Fall”, which served as an introduction to the new album. Recorded at Conclave and Earshot Studio in Bergen with producer Bjørnar Nilsen (VULTURE INDUSTRIES, BLACK HOLE GENERATOR) at the helm and mastered by Herbrand Larsen (ENSLAVED), the nine-track album includes guest appearances from TAAKE’s Hoest, Gunnar Emmerhoff (EMMERHOFF & THE MELANCHONY BABIES), PV Staff and Trine Mjanger. The first edition of “Heiðindómr ok Mótgangr” will include a bonus-DVD containing concerts from the 2009 With Full Force and Inferno Festivals, as well as the videos for ”Dualitet og Ulver”, ”Stones To The Burden” and ”Jernskogen”.

Due for release in Norway on the 1^st of April and world-wide on the 23^rd of May, “Heiðindómr ok Mótgangr” will be the band’s first release to be sung entirely in Norwegian since ”Blod og ild” in 2000. Commenting on the track that the band will debut, V’gandr explained: “Viten og Mot (Stolthet)” means Knowledge and Courage (Pride). It is one of four lyrics on the album that are based on the words of Odin (Håvamål). Stolthet (Pride) is about preparing yourself to meet your enemies armed with both wisdom and skill. It’s about looking your enemies straight in the eyes and showing them who you are, rather than looking towards the heavens for protection or guidance. In the long run we are all alone and only through Knowledge, Courage and Pride can we achieve our goals”.

VULTURE INDUSTRIES ANNOUNCE TOUR DATES WITH TAAKE

Unfortunately, due to illness, Fredric Gråby has been forced to return home and will not be able to complete the tour with SHINING. SHINING however will continue on the tour although they will be down one guitarist. Obviously the sound will be different but they will give it all they’ve got.

TAAKE TO TOUR BRAZIL IN MARCH

Hot on the heels of TAAKE’s first appearance in Central America last month, the band is due to return to that continent, this time for a four-date tour of Brazil with fellow Norwegians MAYHEM in March of this year. Itinerary as follows:

Formed 18 years ago by front man Hoest, TAAKE has long been acknowledged as one of the bands at the forefront of the genre that has come to be known as True Norwegian Black Metal. Hoest’s commanding presence and intense delivery combined with chilling riffs that could only come out of Scandinavia and four skilled musicians with a wealth of experience between them – Tundra and Aindiachai on guitars, V’Gandr on bass and Thurzur on drums – make TAAKE’s live performances a mesmerising experience.

BYFROST’S UK DEBUT CONFIRMED FOR BLOODSTOCK FESTIVAL

Formed in 2007 in Bergen, Norway, by guitarists HeavyHarms and R.I.P Meister, BYFROST originally started life as a four-piece, before settling as a power-house trio composed of HeavyHarms on guitars and vocals, R.I.P Meister on five-string bass and HELLISH OUTCAST’s Alkolust on drums. Their music has been described variously as Blackened Thrash and Black ‘n Roll, but whatever term you want to apply to it, the end result is always the same – a neck-breaking head banging experience

The band’s first album “Black Earth”, which included a guest appearance by ENSLAVED’s Arve Isdal, was released to much critical acclaim in April 2010, and demonstrated the band’s ability to skillfully merge cold, dark, riffs with a touch of the melodic. BYFROST’s reputation as skilled musicians coupled with a dynamic stage presence has been consolidated by a series of live dates both at home and abroad, which included appearances at the Hole in the Sky and Karmoygeddon Festivals, the launch of Terrorizer Magazine’s Norwegian Grindhouse venture, and, along with ENSLAVED, at a special concert to celebrate the 20^th Anniversary of the Garage, Bergen’s foremost venue.

In early 2011 BYFROST inked a deal with Germany’s AFM Records, who are set to release the band’s sophomore album before the summer. The new album, to be titled of “Of Death'”, will once again be recorded at the Conclave and Earshot Studios in the band’s home town of Bergen, and will be produced by ENSLAVED’s Herbrand Larsen and VULTURE INDUSTRIES’ Bjornar Nilsen, who had also produced BYFROST’s debut album.
