DEAD TROOPER was formed in 2002 in Oslo, Norway, by Morten Müller (DEATH INJECTOR, TROLLFEST, METAL MILITIA, ex-GRIMFIST) and Birger Larsen (GROTESQUE HYSTERECTOMY, METAL MILITIA, DEATH INJECTOR ex-GRIMFIST).  The release of the debut full-length album “Cynisist” in 2009 and the “Sickening” EP in 2010 earned the band critical acclaim from both fans and press. Today’s line up combines impressive musical skills with an abundance of enthusiasm, charisma and high energy that produces what DEAD TROOPER themselves call “groovy, aggressive thrash metal”. The presence of Morten on vocals and guitars, Andreas Stenvoll (BLODSPOR, ex-TROLL) on bass and vocals and Jon Eirik Bokn (ZEROZONIC, BREED, AUTUMN INSPIRATION) on drums, gives an indication of the amount of experience both in the studio and on stage that these musicians bring with them.

DEAD TROOPER will appear at a special launch concert for “Erector” at the Cafe Fiasco in Oslo, Norway, on the 25th October.  More information about DEAD TROOPER can be found on the band’s website at http://www.deadtrooper.com/

Norwegian thrashers DEAD TROOPER have released the first of two digi singles that will appear in the lead up to the release of their sophomore full-length studio album “Erector”.  Aside from the title track  “Fat Horny Beast”, which includes a guest appearance from Thebon (HELLISH OUTCAST, ex KEEP OF KALESSIN), the  first single also includes two bonus tracks, one being a cover of the D.D.E. song “Det Går Likar No”, and the other being the live version of “Reaping Of Your Cries” from the band’s 2009 “Cynicist” album. “Reaping of Your Cries” also serves as a taster for the DVD that will form part of the upcoming album release.   “Fat Horny Beast”, which includes artwork by Haakon Hoseth is available through all the usual digital distributors, as well as on Spotify and directly from the band where you can get it for free on BandCamp at http://deadtrooper.bandcamp.com/

An official music video for “Fat Horny Beast” has also been released and can be seen below and on DEAD TROOPER’s YouTube channel at http://youtu.be/nHDIDnCcYqU

The coming few months are going to be busy for DEAD TROOPER.  Aside from the singles and the release of “Erector”, plans are underway to celebrate a decade of the band’s existence with digital back-catalogue releases as well as videos for the two singles.   “The exact details of how the back catalogue material will be presented are still in the thinking-through stage”, commented frontman Meister Müller, “because despite the fact that we are releasing the material for this digitally, we still want it to be something special for the fans, rather than something just thrown together for the sake of it.  Releasing it on vinyl as well would definitely be something we would be up for”.

Aside from Müller (DEATH INJECTOR, TROLLFEST, METAL MILITIA, ex-GRIMFIST) on vocals and guitars, DEAD TROOPER’s lineup includes Andreas Stenvoll (BLODSPOR, ex TROLL) on bass and vocals and Jon Eirik Bokn (BREED, AUTUMN INSPIRATION, ex ZEROZONIC) on drum.  The Oslo trio, with their brand of aggressive thrash metal, are known for their charismatic, high energy shows, and a rapport with their audience which has gained them fans from Norway all the way to South America.

Norwegian Thrashers DEAD TROOPER have this week released a 12” vinyl version of their “live” album “No Tan En Vivo En Mexico” through Hellish Records.  The title, which translated means “Not So Live in Mexico” refers to the band’s appearance at the Wild Metal Festival in Mexico which was rained off after only one and a half songs into DEAD TROOPER’s set, and is a “thank you” for the hospitality and welcome the band received when, together with local musicians and some prominent guests, they played an impromptu set at a local bikers bar where festival goers had gone to shelter from the rain.  Artwork for the eight-track album, which was released digitally in 2011, is by Danny Larsen, and was recorded live in the studio during rehearsals and forms the entire set that the band would have played at the festival.  “No Tan En Vivo En Mexico” will hit the streets on the 13th October and will be available direct from the band at http://deadtrooper.bigcartel.com/product/dead-trooper-no-tan-en-vivo-en-mexico-vinyl

Track listing for “No Tan En Vivo En Mexico” as follows:
1) Reaping Of Your Cries
2) Awakening The Awe
3) Death Casts A Shadow
4) Inner Riot
5) Spiritual Funeral
6) Ten Ton Hammer (MACHINE HEAD cover)
7) Guns N’ Neuroses
8) Kiss Of The Kannibal

Describing their music as “groovy, aggressive thrash metal”, DEAD TROOPER’s line up consists of frontman and guitarist Morten Müller (DEATH INJECTOR, METAL MILITIA, ex-GRIMFIST), Kim Andreassen (SLOGSTORM) on guitars and backing vocals,  Andreas Stenvoll (BLODSPOR) on bass  and Jon Eirik Bokn (ZEROZONIC, BREED, AUTUMN INSPIRATION) on drums.  The band will launch the album on the 13th October with a concert and signing session at the Da Vinci Rock Bar in Oslo, which also marks the opening of the bar itself as a music venue.  Various festivities and events are also set to take place throughout the evening to celebrate the venue’s opening.

Work on DEAD TROOPER’s sophomore full-length album, which includes guest appearances by some of Norway’s extreme metal elite has now been completed and the band is looking for a label for its release.  The band is also confirmed to support SAHG at Musikkflekken in Sandvika, Norway on the 24 November. More information about DEAD TROOOPER can be found at http://www.deadtrooper.com/

“No Tan En Vivo En Mexico”, the “live” album from Thrashers DEAD TROOPER, which was released digitally earlier this year, has been snapped up by Norway’s HELLISH RECORDS, who are set to release the vinyl version in September.   The vinyl, which will include the original cover artwork by Danny Larsen, is not, strictly speaking, a “live” album in the accepted sense of the word because it was, in fact, recorded live in the studio when the band recorded a run-through of what would have been their entire set at the upcoming Wild Metal Festival in Mexico, rather than on stage.

Unfortunately the Wild Metal Festival never really happened due to torrential rain which closed down the event before most of the bands could play, including DEAD TROOPER themselves, who at least managed to get through one and a half songs before the heavens opened.  The band then ended up in a local biker bar, where they, together with local musicians and some eminent guests, performed a set for the sheltering fans.  Having returned and realised that the quality of the run-through recording was of a very high standard, DEAD TROOPER decided to name it “No Tan En Vivo En Mexico”, which translated means “Not-So-Live In Mexico” and release it as thank you for the hospitality and incredible welcome they received from the fans.

Oslo-based DEAD TROOPER, who describe themselves as playing “groovy, aggressive thrash metal”, recently announced that BLODSPOR’s Andreas Stenvoll would be taking over the role of bassist, which was recently vacated by Tor R. Stavenes, whose work with other bands such as 1349 no longer left him sufficient time to dedicate to the rapidly growing thrashers.  They’ve also recently been auditioning guitarists and were surprised by the large numbers who actually applied as the result of a “recruitment” video the band had released.   An announcement about the new line up is expected shortly.  Altogether it has been a very busy period for DEAD TROOPER, with work almost completed on the band’s sophomore full-length album which features guest appearances by some of Norway’s extreme metal elite.  A label is currently being sought.  More information about DEAD TROOOPER can be found at http://www.deadtrooper.com/

Thrashers DEAD TROOPER have announced that BLODSPOR’s Andreas Stenvoll will be taking over the role of bassist which was recently vacated by Tor R. Staveness whose work with other bands such as 1349 no longer leaves him sufficient time to dedicate to the rapidly growing  DEAD TROOPER.  Stenvoll, an old friend of the band and a former member of TROLL, has already started rehearsing and confirms that his work with BLODSPOR will not be affected.

As well as the new bassist, DEAD TROOPER are also looking to recruit a guitarist to replace long-time member Birger Larsen, and are currently preparing to audition.  The band has, in fact, released a short video to give would-be applicants a taste of what to expect from its members.  Commented founder and frontman Meister Muller:  “We made a video because we thought it was important to give applicants an idea of what kind of personalities we have.  We like to enjoy what we’re doing, so if you have a tendency to be po-faced it’s definitely not the band for you.  However, I will stress that we have big plans for DEAD TROOPER, and we are deadly serious about our music, so, aside from great skills, we are also looking for someone who is prepared to commit not just their time, but also their soul, to the band. Auditions will take place in Norway and if chosen you must be available to rehearse on a regular basis in the Oslo area”.   Anyone interested in applying can contact DEAD TROOPER either though their Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/deadtrooper or via email to deadtrooper@live.com

DEAD TROOPER, who describe their music as “groovy, aggressive thrash metal”, recently released the “live” album “No Tan En Vivo En Mexico”, which was inspired the band’s appearance at Mexico’s Wild Metal Fest last year and which was rained off after only one and a half songs into the set.  The album is actually a live studio recording of the set the band intended to play at the festival, and was digitally released in March of this year as a thank you to all the Mexican fans they met in a biker bar when the festival was called off, and for whom they played an impromptu set.  Negotiations are currently under way to release a vinyl version of “No Tan En Vivo En Mexico”, and DEAD TROOPER are currently looking for a label to release the band’s next full-length album. Norwegian Thrashers DEAD TROOPER have released a live album with a bit of a difference.  The eight track album, “No Tan En Vivo En Mexico”, with artwork by Danny Larsen, is released digitally on the 9th March, and is inspired by the band’s appearance at Mexico’s Wild Metal Fest last year which was rained off after only one and a half songs into the set.  As a result the band decided to release a live studio recording of what would have been the entire show as a tribute to the fans who took Dead Trooper to their hearts after they performed an impromptu set at a local biker bar following the cancellation of the festival.  Frontman Meister Muller describes what happened:

“To cut a long story short DEAD TROOPER went to Mexico last year to play their biggest outdoor concert to date at the Wild Metal Fest 2011. We hit the stage and what did we get?  Rain.  Insane amounts of it which drowned the stage and cut the power. So much rehearsing and anticipation for this gig and we only got to play 1.5 songs before Mother Nature pissed on us. We don’t need to tell you how passionate Mexican fans are about their metal and with the festival called off there ensued the usual riot, fire, fists and shit kickers.  After quite a few depressing cervesas and tequilas we got word that a bunch of disgruntled fans thirsty for Norwegian Metal were gathered at a local biker bar, together with a local band and back line, so we headed off to the Route 666 bar and shredded through some songs, including a bunch of covers, together with eminent guests! The bar exploded! We were welcomed as stars! Unbelievable! The intensity, heat and adrenaline of the packed club was only matched by the rain of bear hugs, kisses, praise and love from the crazy metal heads of Cancun  when we eventually stumbled off stage.   Before we were due to appear we had made this brilliant studio recording of our intended live set which really captured our live sound in the best way possible and which was only meant for us to dissect and analyze for the sake of perfecting the set. But we had to give something back to Mexico for treating us like metal royalty! “No Tan En Vivo En Mexico” is the set we intended to play at Wild Metal Fest, and here it is, raw, dirty, heavy, and passionate! This album is for you, Mexico! Te amamos, you bastards!!”

DEAD TROOPER, who describe their music as “groovy, aggressive thrash metal” are currently on the hunt for a label to release what will be their sophomore full-length album, which features guest appearances by some of Norway’s extreme metal elite.  The band’s next live appearance will be at the Inferno Festival in Oslo on the 6th April.  More information about DEAD TROOOPER can be found at http://www.deadtrooper.com/

”Kiss of the Kannibal”, a track from “No Tan En Vivo En Mexico”, together with other tracks from DEAD TROOPER  can be heard on the SoundCloud player at the top of the page.

Below you can hear Meister Muller explaining the decision to release “No Tan En Vivo En Mexico”, during a recent interview with DJ Malice for Canada’s Nuclear Holocaust Radio.

With the end of the recording sessions in sight for DEAD TROOPER, front man and guitarist Morten Müller revealed a little information about what to expect from the Norwegian Thrashers sophomore full-length album. “We’re recording 13 tracks, and we expect to use 9 of those on the album, but obviously we’ll make our minds up exactly how many, and which ones, once we’ve finished the whole process.  We’ve taken a much more organic approach than the one we took with our first full-length album “Cynicist”,  and we’re aiming at injecting a lot more of the energy that you find in our live performances into the new one”.

Formed in 2002 in Oslo, by Morten Müller and Birger Larsen together with then members Are Sorknes and Andreas Paulsen, DEAD TROOPER has since released two EPs as well as the debut album “Cynicist” which appeared in 2009, and has regularly played live, bringing their brand of what the band describes as “groovy, aggressive thrash metal” not only to audiences in their native Norway but also as far afield as South America.  “There was a point”, says Müller, “when we had gone through the usual line up changes that bands go through in their attempt to find the perfect line up, when I was almost tempted to wind the whole thing up, but then in 2008 the most incredible drummer in the shape of Jon Eirik Bokn came into the band’s life.  His skills are matched by his larger than life personality, and his arrival brought a whole new enthusiasm and creativity to DEAD TROOPER.  He was followed into the band by 1349, DEN SAAKALDTE and PANTHEON I bass player Tor R. Stavenes, who brought his own unique take on things, and we knew at that point that we had a good mix.  We are very happy to say that this enthusiasm and creativity has remained unabated since their arrival”.

With all DEAD TROOPER’s members having a wealth of experience in various other projects, both on a regular and on a session basis, the band has been able to attract a formidable array of friends, guests and collaborators to appear on the new album, which is to be called “Erector”.  These include Grutle of ENSLAVED, Torbjørn Schei (KEEP OF KALESSIN, HELLISH OUTCAST), Drekka Dag and Manskow (TROLLFEST), Live Julianne (PANTHEON I) and Destructhor (MORBID ANGEL, MYRKSKOG, ex ZYKLON, ex 1349).  A label is currently being sought.  More information about DEAD TROOPER can be found at http://www.deadtrooper.com/
