FORMER CARPATHIAN FOREST GUITARISTS DEBUT TRACK FROM UPCOMING 3RD ATTEMPT ALBUM. DETAILS AND ARTWORK REVEALED

When, in late 2014, guitarists Tchort and BloodPervertor announced that they were leaving Black Metal titans CARPATHIAN FOREST to form their own band 3rd ATTEMPT, there were some who questioned the wisdom of leaving the safety of such an iconic band in order to start something new. But, less than a year later, on the 25th September, Dark Essence Records is set to release the band’s debut full-length album “Born in Thorns”, which will show just how right the two renowned guitarists were in deciding to leave an environment they felt had become stale and stifling, in order to feel the rush of creativity and enthusiasm once again.

Barely drawing breath after their announcement, Tchort (GREEN CARNATION, ex-CARPATHIAN FOREST, ex EMPEROR, ex BLOOD RED THRONE) and BloodPervertor ( ex-CARPATHIAN FOREST) chose Ødemark (ex-MIDNATTSVREDE) as their vocalist, following online auditions that elicited responses from both experienced and new vocalists from all over the world. The lineup was then completed with the addition of drummer Tybalt (FORTID, DEN SAAKALDTE) whose performance as a session drummer for the 3rd ATTEMPT at this year’s Blastfest convinced the others that he was the man for the job.

With producer Endre Kirkesola, known for his work with CARPATHIAN FOREST, BLOOD RED THRONE, GREEN CARNATION, URGEHAL, TSJUDER, at the helm, 3rd ATTEMPT entered the Studio Sanden in Kristiansand to record “Born in Thorns”. Mixing and mastering was done by Marius Strand at the Strand Studio. This is an album that showcases the well-known writing skills of the two founders, as well as contributions from the new members, and turns the old-school Black Metal vibe up several notches by introducing different elements, including rock n roll/black n roll, to produce a unique take on the Classic Black Metal sound, giving it a fresh feeling and a distinctive groove.

ALFAHANNE REVEAL ARTWORK AND DETAILS OF UPCOMING SOPHOMORE FULL-LENGTH ALBUM

Thanks to a very popular competition run by the band and their label Dark Essence Records, fans of Sweden’s “Alfapokalyptic Rockers” ALFAHANNE will all be aware by now that the band who managed to attract the likes of TAAKE’s Hoest, SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth and HELHEIM’s V’gandr to guest on their debut album, have managed to pull some more significant guests out of the hat for their upcoming sophomore full-length album “Blod Eld Alfa”, which is scheduled for release on the 11th September. Joining them this time out will be KVELERTAK frontman Erlend Hjelvik, Spellgoth from HORNA and TURMION KÄTILÖT, and Nattfursth from SORHIN. SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, with whom ALFAHANNE has a history of collaboration, also makes a return appearance.

The nine-track “Blod Eld Alfa” was mastered by ENSLAVED’s Herbrand Larsen at Bergen’s Earshot Studios, and features ALFAHANNE’s trademark high-energy mix of Black Metal, Punk, Classic Rock and New Wave – elements that combine together to create a unique sound full of the swagger and attitude that makes the band such a success both in the studio and on the stage.

EXPERIMENTAL POST METALLERS KRAKOW SET TO RELEASE LIMITED EDITION VINYL AND DIGI EP

When KRAKOW walked into the Solslottet and Duper Studio with producer Iver Sandøy to record what would become “amaran”, their 3rd full-length album, they had a total of ten tracks in mind – seven of which made it onto the finished album. The remaining three tracks proved to be perfect examples of the more aggressive and direct side of the band, but did not really fit in with the overall atmosphere of the album, so they were put to one side, ready to be used when the time was right, whilst everyone sat back and watched the plaudits come rolling in when “amaran” hit the streets in February of 2015 on Dark Essence Records.

And the time is now right to let the fans hear those three, never-before heard, tracks . Dark Essence will release them, together with the track “genesis” from “amaran” on the 7th August as a 7″ EP, which will be strictly limited to 300 copies, as well as in digital format. The EP, which is titled “genesis” will hit the streets just in time for the band’s appearance at Oslo’s Øya Festival on Saturday 15 August, and is now available to pre-order from http://karismarecords.bigcartel.com/artist/krakow

Formed in 2005 in Bergen, Norway, and with a recent European tour with titans ARCTURUS under their belts, KRAKOW is now regarded as one Norway’s best live acts. The band’s lineup consists of with Kjartan Grønhaug on guitars, René Misje on guitars and vocals, Frode Kilvik (AETERNUS, VITHR) on vocals and bass, and Ask Ty Arctander (KAMPFAR) on drums.

ALFAHANNE AND DARK ESSENCE RECORDS REVEAL ALL FOUR GUESTS ON UPCOMING ALBUM

HORNA frontman Spellgoth will be joining KVELERTAK’s Erlend Hjelvik, SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, and SORHIN’s Nattfursth on the upcoming album from Swedish “Alfapokalyptic” Rockers ALFHANNE, who, together with their label Dark Essence Records, have been running a competition over the past couple of months, inviting fans to guess the guests and win a copy of the new album.

“The competition has been a lot of fun for us” commented the band, “and hopefully the fans have enjoyed it too – we’ve certainly been receiving entries from all parts of the world. Our guests on this album are all from quite different bands, and are are musicians for whom we have a great admiration and we were more than excited when they agreed to perform guest vocals. From the comments we’ve been getting it seems that the fans feel the same way too. Obviously we can’t reveal too much about the new album at the moment, except to say that it will be out in September, but Dark Essence Records will be revealing more information soon, and you’ll get a chance to hear something from it too!”

Over the past few weeks fans of Sweden’s ALFAHANNE have been having a bit of fun by entering a competition to win a copy of the band’s next album by guessing who the guests will be on the upcoming release. For those who were not already aware, ALFAHANNE, a band known for their interaction with fans, together with their label Dark Essence Records, have been running a “Guess the Guest” competition in the run up to the release of the band’s sophomore full-length album later this year. With SHINING frontman NIKLAS KVARFORTH already announced as the first guest, the band and its label are ready to announced that the second of four guest on the band’s upcoming sophomore full-length album will be NATTFURSTH from the iconic Swedish Black Metal band SORHIN (photo below).

When ALFAHANNE and Dark Essence Records announced their first “Guess the Guest” competition recently they were pretty sure that the clues would be very easy for fans of the band. And sure enough the entries poured in as fans guessed that the first guest on the band’s upcoming album would be none other than SHINING frontman and founder NIKLAS KVARFORTH. An easy one to guess since Kvarforth had already worked with ALFAHANNE both in the studio and live, with his most recent collaboration with the band being a surprise appearance on stage with them at Incineration Festival in London.

With three more guests to reveal, the second competition was launched today, and this time the clues might not seem as easy to many of their followers. “This guest is someone we have admired for many years now, but he will probably be the most difficult one to guess. However, we’ve provided enough information so that with a little bit of research it shouldn’t be too hard to work out who it is” commented the band. The clues are as follows:

1) This guest sings in a classic Swedish Black Metal band from Borlänge which started out in 1993 but is currently on hiatus.

2) This guest has released some classic Black Metal underground albums, one of them being “Apokalypsens ängel”

3) This guest’s band released their later albums on their own label Svartvintras Productions

4) In 2008 Norma Evangelium Diaboli released this guest’s box set Förbannade år 1993-2001.

ALFAHANNE AND DARK ESSENCE RECORDS ANNOUNCE COMPETITION IN RUN-UP TO ALBUM RELEASE

When details of ALFAHANNE’s debut full-length album “Alfapokalyps” were revealed prior to the album’s release on Dark Essence Records early last year, many were surprised to find that the Swedish band, who at that time were relatively unknown, had managed to attract guest appearances from artists such as TAAKE’s Hoest, SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, and HELHEIM’s V’gandr. But ALFAHANNE can claim a lineup of musicians that have been on the Black Metal scene since the early ’90’s in bands such as VINTERLAND and early MAZE OF TORMENT , and their reputation for high octane live shows and their self-styled Alfapokalyptic Rock, which is a high energy mix of Black Metal, Classic Rock and Punk, has since garnered them a legion of new fans throughout the world and proved to be more than enough to win the respect of other established musicians.

So much so, in fact, that the band’s sophomore full-length album, which is scheduled for release in September of this year, will include four special guests, and, in keeping with the band’s policy of being accessible to their fans through Social Media, ALFAHANNE have teamed up with DARK ESSENCE RECORDS to run a competition in the run-up to the release of the album.

LEGENDARY NORWEGIANS HADES ALMIGHTY ANNOUNCE NEW FRONTMAN

As HADES ALMIGHTY themselves put it in a statement today the “Dawn of a New Era” is upon the band with the arrival of a new frontman to replace former vocalist Janto, who, after 22 years, left the band on friendly terms for personal reasons.

With a couple of new release set to appear on Dark Essence Records, long-time members and founders, guitarist Jorn (DOMINANZ, ex-OLD FUNERAL, ex-IMMORTAL, ex-AMPUTATION) and drummer Remi, had this to say about the new arrival and future plans for the band:

“HADES ALMIGHTY are back! A lot has been festering in the HADES Horde in the last year, and we are now finally able to reveal some details.

First, we are pleased to present the mighty Ask Ty who will be our new musical orator and the screamer of blood curling verses. Known as drummer and part time vocalist of bands like KAMPFAR and KRAKOW , Ask Ty brings fresh nutrients to the soil of the Horde. We have been working together for the last 6 months, and the harvest has been fruitful.

Secondly, we hereby announce that the first studio release since 2001’s ‘THE PULSE OF DECAY‘ will be an EP entitled ‘PYRE ERA, BLACK!’, which will lead up to the release of a full-length album not long after. Both will be released through Dark Essence Records.

THE 3RD ATTEMPT, THE NEW BAND FROM FORMER CARPATHIAN FOREST GUITARISTS, POSTS FIRST STUDIO REPORT WITH PHOTOS AND VIDEOS

Work on the debut full-length album from THE 3RD ATTEMPT, which is set to be released on Dark Essence Records later this year, is progressing at a very satisfactory pace. The band entered the Sanden Studio in Kristiansand on the 17th April and they have posted the first in what will be a series of Studio Reports which will follow the progress of the album. The first report, which includes videos of drummer Tybalt laying down the drum tracks, as well as a series of photos by guitarist Tchort, can be seen at https://3rdattemptband.wordpress.com/

With the drum tracks now recorded, the next job will be to create a rough mix, ready for the guitars and bass to be recorded later this week. Recording and producing the album is Endre Kirkesola, who is the band’s sound engineer in both the studio and live, and who has worked with bands such as BLOOD RED THRONE, CHROME DIVISION, URGEHAL, TSJUDER, GREEN CARNATION, CARPATHIAN FOREST and IMMORTAL.

Formed late last year by former CARPATHIAN FOREST guitarists Tchort (GREEN CARNATION, ex-CARPATHIAN FOREST, ex EMPEROR, ex BLOOD RED THRONE) and BloodPervertor (APOSTASY, ex-CARPATHIAN FOREST, ex NEONGOD), THE 3RD ATTEMPT’s lineup includes Kaahrl Ødemark (ex- MIDNATTSVREDE, ex-NECROCAVE) on vocals and Tybalt (FORTID, DEN SAAKALDTE, ETHEREAL FOREST, ex- HEATHEN DEITY, ex-PANTHEON I) on drums. With such a pedigree it was no surprise that the band found itself being courted by various labels before eventually allowing themselves to be snapped up by Norway’s Dark Essence Records.

THE 3rd ATTEMPT’s next live appearance will be at the Southern Discomfort Metal Festival, in Kristiansand, Norway, in September.
