Norway’s Dark Essence Records have added another string to their rapidly growing bow by inking a deal with Norwegian veterans ATROX, and are set to release the band’s fifth full length album “Monocle” on a date as yet to be announced.

Commenting on joining Dark Essence’s roster, and giving fans an insight into what they should expect from the result of ATROX’s return to the studio after  an eight year break, the band had this to say:

“It’s finally happening, the moment we all have been waiting for, the moment when all the hard work finally pays off… We’re proud to announce that we have joined forces with Dark Essence Records, and together we will release our next album “Monocle”.

“Monocle” is our darkest album so far. During the process of creating and recording it we explored, and were exposed to, our darker selves, and what we encountered during this process almost killed us.  It left us in a dystopian vacuum and all worn out, but with one hell of a piece of music to present to the world.

“Musically speaking “Monocle” contains poisons that’ll blind you, and poisons that’ll open your eyes.

As William Gibson says in his novel  “Neuromancer“: “The future is already here. It’s just unevenly distributed.”

Formed in Trondheim, Norway, in  1988 the band was originally called Suffocation, but for obvious reasons the name was changed to ATROX in 1990.  Having spent their first years playing an atmospheric mix of Death and Doom Metal, recording demos and honing their live skills, ATROX’s first release was the 1996 7” “Silence of Echoes”,  which was followed by a further four full length albums and numerous live appearances including several tours and festivals.

Today’s lineup of Rune Folgerø on Vocals,  viNd on Guitars, Rune Sørgård on Guitars & Technology, Tor Arne Helgesen on Drums and Erik Paulsen on Bass plays what they like to call “Schizo” Metal, which differs from their original sound, being more melodic and with an experimental/avant-garde edge.

Avant-garde Metallers VULTURE INDUSTRIES and fellow Norwegian Experimental Black/Death Metallers SULPHUR have banded together to perform a series of dates later this month.   Going by the name of “The Tower Falls Tour”, a reference to VULTURE INDUSTRIES last album “The Tower”, the tour  will kick off with both bands appearing at the Phantoms of Pilsen Festival in the Czech Republic, before moving on to Germany,  Hungary and Romania for six further shows.  Routing as follows:

21 Oct: Phantoms Of Pilsen, Pilsen (CZ)
22 Oct:  Festung, Bitterfeld (DE)
27 Oct:  Supersonic,  Budapest (HUN)
28 Oct:  Casa de Cultura Studentilor,  Craiove (RO)
29 Oct:  Club Fabrica, Bucharest (RO)
30 Oct:  Rock ‘N’ Iasi, Iasi (RO)
31 Oct:  Daos Club, Timisoara, (RO)

With over a decade’s worth of live appearances, superb technical skills, and one of the most eccentric frontmen around in the shape of Bjørnar E. Nilsen, VULTURE INDUSTRIES’ highly theatrical on-stage performances never fail to earn the band scores of new followers wherever they play.  Add to that  three critically acclaimed albums and a series of collaborations in the fields of performance art and video, and you get a band that is always exciting and always has a surprise or two in store for their audience.

With a lineup that includes current and former members of bands such as GORGOROTH, ENSLAVED, AETERNUS and VULTURE INDUSTRIES, there is little doubt that SULPHUR has a pedigree that will ensure that fans coming to see the band live on stage will not be disappointed.  “Omens of Doom”, SULPHUR’s second full-length album was released on Dark Essence Records earlier this year, and has garnered universal praise from fans and critics alike.

With a career spanning 10 years and with over 100 shows under their belts, the live performances of Norwegian avant-gardists VULTURE INDUSTRIES  are  well known both for their technical skill and the eccentric and somewhat manic antics of frontman Bjørnar E. Nilsen, whose on-stage weirdness has garnered a multitude of fans for the band over the years.  VULTURE INDUSTRIES released their third full-length album, “The Tower” on Season of Mist at the end of last year and have collaborated extensively the HAPPY GORILLA DANCE COMPANY  in the “Turning Golem” project which is part concert rooted in the heavier segment of experimental/progressive metal and part theatre performance.  The band’s  video for “Lost Among Liars”, made together with CHOIREANU, recently featured at this year’s Kort and Kortkino Film Festival, Sandnes, Norway.  More information about VULTURE INDUSTRIES can be found at http://www.vulture-industries.net/

After 15 years of musical dedication and innovation in NEGURA BUNGET, the founding members and principal song writers Hupogrammos and Sol Faur founded DORDEDUH in 2009. Following the path started with NEGURA BUNGET, DORDEDUH is taking the musical experience further by creating a fusion between a visionary approach of black metal, unusual traditional soundscapes and experimental progressive music. The musical vision is completed by a strong conceptual background that can be revealed by the band’s name itself that combines the word ‘Dor’, which means a yearning for something or a deeply felt the lack of something, together with the term for spirit ‘Duh’. Since its formation in 2004 BLUTMOND has never been a band that has been happy to limit itself to a formulaic nod in the direction of a particular genre.  Starting out as a Black Metal band and releasing their first full length album “Endzeit” in 2006, BLUTMOND quickly developed a reputation for their insane and provocative live shows, which, whilst raising their profile throughout Europe, also led them to realise that the time had come to create something that was more emotional and honest.   With Code666/Aural Music picking up their sophomore full-length album, “Thirteen Urban Ways 4 Groovy Bohemian Days” appeared in 2010, followed at the end of 2012 by “The Revolution is Dead!”, once again on Code666. These two albums demonstrated that BLUTMOND was obviously forging ahead down a more avant-garde path, but one that definitely has a distinctive edge to it.  More information about BLUTMOND can be found at https://www.facebook.com/blutmond.official
