3rd Attempt PR1

It’s been well over two months since The 3rd ATTEMPT promised that the second instalment of their track-by-track concept video would appear within days of the December release on Dark Essence Records of their second full-length album “Egocidal Path”.   The two-part video was intended to give a  very personal insight into frontman and lyricist Ødemark’s  emotionally charged, and highly personal lyrics, with the first part describing the first four tracks on the album, and the second highlighting the last four tracks.

Unfortunately, a series of problems and mishaps caused the second part to be delayed until now, because, as Ødemark explains,  “Everything went fucking wrong.  It really did.   Every single step of the creation of this two-part video  was hit by either technical issues, a computer breakdown, lack of time, and of course, the inevitable noob mistake.  It could be said that the whole process was a series of disasters, but perhaps that’s why I couldn’t be more proud of the final outcome.

“This has been my first video creation ever, I had a vision and the motivation, and in order to make it happen I began learning all the technical stuff there is to learn about every aspect of  video making (animation, recording, lights, editing, post production, encoding etc.)  Add to this the fact that I had 0 Budget, so all the costs came from my already empty pocket.  But anyway, if there is no money, it has to be replaced by ingenuity and knowledge, and I wouldn’t let anybody interfere with it or give me a hand. I was set on proving I could do it all myself – and I did!”.

The  video can be seen below and at https://youtu.be/pZu7ZVRPmUo

The 3rd ATTEMPT was formed by former CARPATHIAN FOREST guitarists Tchort (GREEN CARNATION) and BloodPervertor (OPUS FORGOTTEN) and, aside from Ødemark on vocals,  the band’s lineup is completed by Tybalt (FORTID, DEN SAAKALDTE) on drums.   “Egocidal Path” is the follow up to the band’s 2015 debut album “Born in Thorns”, and,  with it, according to Tchort, the 3rd ATTEMPT took a ” huge leap towards the true sound and identity of the band.  While our debut album “Born in Thorns” represented the CARPATHIAN FOREST era of our song writing, “Egocidal Path” is a newly written album that is more aggressive, tighter, and in-your-face.  It also showcases the fantastic drumming skills of Tybalt (FORTID, DEN SAAKALDTE) and the vocal range and creativity of Ødemark”

Ødemark  himself explains  what he sought to achieve with the two concept videos:  ” I wanted to give a visual context to our music, and,  at the same time,  give as much of an insight into the thinking behind the lyrics without it being a written explanation that nobody bothers to read anyway.    This lead me to creating what you are now seeing.  Yes, I do give a general idea of what each song is about, but I don’t set out to explain the lyrics line by line, I want those who are interested to discover  things for themselves.

“As regards the visual content,  I decided to create a two completely different scenarios. With the first video, I wanted to convey the sense of chaos associated with the self-destructive lifestyle aspect of Black & Roll, and to do this I had to adopt a “0 tolerance for political correctness”. So if the mere sight of the naked human body or drugs offends you in any way, if you do not want to  see the whole of what life involves  without getting “offended”, well, this one is not for you.  Life is, what life is, with or without your personal approval.   With its hints at decadence and personal corrosion, the first video contains a lot more symbolism.  The  barbed wire and the pain is real though,  and people can  decide for themselves what it all means.

“For the second Video, I wanted something radically different,  I didn’t  want people to have to drink twice from the same cup.   I needed to create a more realistic scenario as I wanted to depict depression, madness, confusion, mysticism,  and make it more personal.  I almost went too far with the cutting in the last scene, it all ended up with a pool of blood behind the scenes –  too much adrenaline, jeeze!”

Originally formed several years ago by frontman Doedsadmiral (NORDJEVEL, DOEDSVANGR),  Norwegian Black Metallers SVARTELDER have hit the ground running after a lengthy hiatus.  With a freshly inked two-album deal with the Dusktone label, and with a new lineup that includes members of CARPATHIAN FOREST, IN THE WOODS, DEN SAAKALDTE, PANTHEON I and OLD FOREST, SVARTELDER are gearing up to bring their particular take on Norwegian Black Metal  to a wider audience.

As well as the two full-length albums, the first of which is set to appear in early 2016, Dusktone will also physically release the band’s “Askebundet” EP, which has so far only appeared in digital format.  The CD version will include an additional bonus track that is not available on the three-track digital version, and will hit the streets later this year.

Aside from Doedsadmiral on vocals, SVARTELDER’s new lineup is comprised of Maletoth on bass and guitars, AK-47 on drums, and Kobold on keys.  The inclusion of these highly skilled and experienced musicians  into SVARTELDER’s ranks  has expanded the band’s original sound, which is firmly rooted in Norwegian Black Metal, into something much more fresh and varied, with each member bring with them  their own set of influences and a variety of different elements.

It’s no mystery as to where the musicians come from, but who each individual musician actually is still remains a mystery to some.  “We really did want to be judged on our output with SVARTELDER as opposed to being compared to the various members’ previous work,” explains Doedsadmiral.  “To that end most of the band members have used different names, but from what we have seen on the internet  and the messages we’re receiving, most people are already guessing who it is that’s doing what!”

The band is currently working on their debut full-length album and more  information about SVARTELDER can be found on the band’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Svartelder

With a revitalised lineup that includes members of CARPATHIAN FOREST, IN THE WOODS, DEN SAAKALDTE, PANTHEON I and OLD FOREST, and following the release of the “Askebundet” single, Norwegian Black Metallers have bowed to the pressure from fans eager for more material, and self-released a three-track  digital EP.

The EP, which is titled “Askebundet” and comes in at just under 25 minutes, is available from the 10th July on the band’s  BandCamp page.  It is currently being offered at a “name your price” at https://svartelder.bandcamp.com/

Artwork for “Askebundet”  is by Kobold, and track listing is as follows:

1.Askebundet
2.Bleeding Wounds
3.Ingen Vet Jeg Var…

Whilst the calibre and provenance of SVARTELDER’s musicians is no mystery, their individual identities are.  Formed and fronted by Doedsadmiral, the rest of the lineup comprises Maletoth on bass and guitars, AK-47 on drums, and Kobold on keys.  “It’s probably not that hard to work out who is who” commented the band, “but hopefully there will remain a bit of doubt as we really wanted people to judge SVARTELDER’s music  for itself, rather than comparing how one or other of us played or sounded with other bands” .

SVARTELDER also recently posted a teaser video for the “Askebundet” EP which can be seen below and on the band’s YouTube channel at https://youtu.be/sRJ7WGGFHp4

The band are currently working on their debut full-length album and are in search of a label.  More information about SVARTELDER can be found on the band’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Svartelder

Norwegian Black Metallers SVARTELDER, whose lineup includes members of CARPATHIAN FOREST, IN THE WOODS, DEN SAAKALDTE, PANTHEON I and OLD FOREST, have today released a teaser video that gives a taste of what to expect from their upcoming digital EP release.  The EP, which will be titled “Askebundet” is set for release on the 10th July via SVARTELDER’s BandCamp page at https://svartelder.bandcamp.com/  where the title track of the EP is currently available as a single.

The video, by Kobold, can be seen below and on the band’s YouTube page at https://youtu.be/sRJ7WGGFHp4

Artwork for “Askebundet”  is also by Kobold, and track listing for the 3-track EP,  which comes in at just under 25 minutes is as follows:

1.Askebundet
2.Bleeding Wounds
3.Ingen Vet Jeg Var…

After an initial flurry of activity, SVARTELDER largely remained dormant until founder and  frontman Doedsadmiral, decided to reactivate the project with an infusion of new blood in the shape of vastly experienced musicians who have taken the band’s original old-school Norwegian Black Metal roots and contributed their own individual styles to broaden the whole sound and take it in new directions.

Interestingly, the musicians themselves have chosen to use different names for their work in SVARTELDER,  something that allows  them to explore new avenues without any of the pre-conceptions and expectations from fans that may arise because of their previous bodies of work.  Aside from Doedsadmiral on vocals, the rest of the lineup comprises Maletoth on bass and guitars, AK-47 on drums, and Kobold on keys.

The band are currently working on their debut full-length album and are looking for a label.  More information about SVARTELDER can be found on the band’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Svartelder

Having allowed it to remain dormant for a few years, founder and frontman Doedsadmiral has given his Black Metal project SVARTELDER a considerable infusion of both enthusiasm and talent by bringing in members of CARPATHIAN FOREST, IN THE WOODS, DEN SAAKALDTE, PANTHEON I and OLD FOREST to form a new lineup.

Whilst SVARTELDER’s roots were initially planted in Norwegian Black Metal, it is obvious that an influx of musicians with this kind of experience brings with it a whole different set of influences, as each of the members contribute their own skill-sets and style to the overall sound. So much so, in fact, that the band’s newly debuted demo track “Askebundet” clearly shows that SVARTELDER’s music is expanding outwards from straight Black Metal to include more varied elements.

As to the actual lineup itself, the musicians have kept their identities a secret by changing their usual names.  Aside from Doedsadmiral on vocals, the rest of the lineup comprises Maletoth on bass and guitars, AK-47 on drums, and Kobold on keys.

The band are currently working on their debut full-length album and will be looking for a label.  More information about SVARTELDER can be found on the band’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/Svartelder
