With “Ruin” their long-awaited sophomore full-length album set for release on Dark Essence Records on the 15th June, Norwegian Extreme Melodic Metallers COR SCORPII have released a single from the album.  Titled “Fotefar” the single is available to hear and download in digital format at the following:

“Ruin” is the result of a song writing process which was both lengthy and, at times, quite  arduous for the band.  Drawing its inspiration from classical music, folk melodies and the soundscapes of Nordic extreme metal,  “Ruin” is a chance for COR SCORPII’s members to reveal their  hidden talents by making use of instruments not usually used by metal bands, such as the accordion and mandolin.

A follow up to COR SCORPII’s critically acclaimed debut album “Monument”, which was released eight years ago, also on Dark Essence Records, “Ruin” is an album that successfully blends epic, soaring melodies, with the harshness of extreme metal.  It features guest appearances by the classical singer Annika Beinnes, as well as Mats Lerberg (I SWEAR DAMNATION, ex-FUNERAL) who lend their considerable vocal talents to three tracks each.

“Ruin was recorded at various locations over a period of three years and was mixed by Børge Finstad in his Toproom Studio, and mastered by Tom Kvålsvoll at his Kvalsonic Lab.  With artwork by Novans V. Adikresna of the Marnov Studio, tracklisting on “Ruin” is as follows:

Founded in 2004 as an offshoot of the legendary WINDIR, COR SCORPII’s lineup of Gaute Refsnes on keyboards, Inge Jonny Lomheim on  bass guitars, accordion and programming, Ole M. Nordsve on drums, Rune Sjøthun on  rhythm guitars, mandolin and programming, and Thomas S. Øvstedal  on vocals,  recently welcomed a new arrival into its ranks in the shape of Erlend Nybø  on lead guitars.

Italian Dark Metallers SELVANS have confirmed that they have finished recording their second full-length studio album which will be titled “Faunalia”.

Haruspex, the mastermind behind SELVANS,  had this to say about the album:

“Ladies and gentlemen,

I’m glad to inform you that the recording sessions of our second album “Faunalia” have finally ended!

‘Faunalia’ is the result of three years of hard work on our creature. We have improved some aspects of our sound and we have had the pleasure to collaborate with some italian Artists we strongly respect whose names will be revelead in due time…

This work represent an evolution of our sound and visual concept with a dark romantic approach to the typical italian sounds, giving new impetus to Selvans identity.

There are only a few steps left, then the album will be ready to be released via Avantgarde Music by the end of 2018.  But… let us tell the most impatient of you that we are going to play some new stuff
during the upcoming ‘Hirpi European Tour’.

SELVANS was formed by frontman Haruspex after the demise of Italy’s legendary DRAUGR.  With SELVANS, Haruspex’s idea was to  breathe new life into  the rich and varied customs, mysticism and folklore that were left behind by the plethora of ethnic  inhabitants that populated Italy throughout the ages.  Combined with  SELVANS’ music and lyrics, Haruspex’s use of  aesthetics has created a band which,  visually, and, very importantly,  emotively, brings back to life those long-lost eras.   And this is something that is not limited to SELVANS’ studio output, but is vividly re-created on stage, as fans will be able to see for themselves on the upcoming tour.

First released in Digital and Digipak CD formats on Avantgarde Music in 2015, SELVANS’ “Clangores Plenilunio” MCD is now available for the first time as a Limited Edition 12″ Picture LP via  Vendetta Records.

Following the demise of DRAUGR , SELVANS was formed by frontman Haruspex, with the idea of bringing back to life  the mysticism and the folklore that the different ethnic  inhabitants of  Italy left behind them over the ages.  Something that the band has been able to do very successfully,  not only through their music and lyrics, both in the studio and  live on stage, but also aesthetically.

Sadly, SELVANS’ first drummer, Jonny, was killed in a motorbike accident shortly after finishing recording the drums and part of the vocals for “Clangores Plenilunio”.  The vocals and lyrics were completed by Haruspex, and the MCD was released as a tribute to Jonny.

With artwork conceived by Haruspex and actualized by Eba Art , and with the addition of the previously unpublished lyrics for the tracks “Lupecale” and “Clangores Plenilunio”, track listing on the Picture LP is as follows:

Selvans Gorgoroth Tour PR

SELVANS,  a band known for combining music, lyrics and aesthetics in such a way as to recreate the folklore of Italy’s ancient peoples, released their debut full-length album “Lupercalia” on Avantgarde Music in October of this year.  Recorded at  the Faunalia Studios and in Patrizio Tamborriello’s Soluzioni Audio, the album’s lineup  comprises Selvans Haruspex on keyboards, traditional instruments, vocals and  programming,  and Sethlans Fulguriator on guitars and bass.

Unusually, the CD version of the album is released in A5 format in order to better display the  artwork of Diletta of E.B.A. Art, whose collaboration with the band has brought to life the original designs created by frontman Selvans Haruspex.  Also available digitally, as well as a Limited Edition boxed version which sold out in 60 hours,  “Lupercalia” is composed of six tracks coming in at an average of ten minutes each, and is a follow up to the five-track EP “Clangores Plenilunio”,  which was also released on Avantgarde Music in February of this year.
