SCANDINAVIAN BLACK METALLERS NORDJEVEL REVEAL TRACK AND VIDEO FROM DEBUT FULL-LENGTH ALBUM

Although as a band NORDJEVEL is a newcomer to the scene, the individual musicians definitely are not.  With a lineup that includes Djevel (SVARTELDER, DOEDSVANGR) on vocals, Nord (FATAL IMPACT, BYRDI) on guitars and bass, and Fredrik Widigs on drums, NORDJEVEL have not wasted any time in getting down to writing and recording material for their debut full-length album. Nor have they wasted any time in allowing fans to have a taste of what to expect from this combination of Norwegian and Swedish musicians, and have today debuted the track “Denne Tidløse Krigsdom” both on SoundCloud at https://soundcloud.com/nordjevelofficial/denne-tidlose-krigsdom  or on YouTube in a video by Prometheus Art & Design which can be seen below and at https://youtu.be/MVhzOjhJNOI

NORDJEVEL, which translated means Northern Devil, was formed by Djevel and Nord earlier this year, when, after having had various conversations, they found that their views on Black Metal, the Occult and the origins of Norway were perfectly in synch.  When the idea of the band was mentioned to Swedish Drummer Fredrik Widigs, he was interested enough to join the lineup.  Although his commitments to his other projects preclude him from committing to appearing live with the band, he will nevertheless be a full-time studio member of NORDJEVEL and contribute significantly to writing and arranging the music along with Djevel and Nord.

The band are currently in the pre-production stage of their debut album, which will be titled “Djevelen I Nord” and includes guest appearances from TROLL’s Nagash amongst others.  A label is currently being sought.

Over the past few weeks fans of Sweden’s ALFAHANNE have been having a bit of fun by entering a competition to win a copy of the band’s next album by guessing who the guests will be on the upcoming release. With two guests and two winners already announced, the band and their label, Dark Essence Records, have now announced that the third guest will be KVELERTAK frontman  Erlend Hjelvik (photo below).    He will be joining SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, and SORHIN’s Nattursth on what will be the self-styled Alfapocalyptic Rockers’ sophomore full-length album, which is due for release in the Autumn.

With only one more guest left to announce, and one CD left to win, the clues to the final “Guess the Guest” competition are as follows:

1)  This guest is the vocalist for one of the top Finnish Black Metal bands which was originally formed in 1993

2) The meaning of the Finnish name of this guest’s band is “abyss”

3) When one of the early vocalists with this guest’s band left,  he became the musician that is known today as Satanic Warmaster’s Werwolf.

4)  This guest will be appearing at the Tuska Open Air Festival Pre-Party this year, fronting another of his bands, TURMION KÄTILÖT,  the day before Alfahanne themselves are due to appear at the festival

SHINING frontman and founder NIKLAS KVARFORTH explained the reason behind the band’s decision not to spend long periods of time on the road:  “Basically we want to be able to give our audience the best show possible each time we are on stage.  And weeks on the road stuck on a cramped, uncomfortable  nightliner,  with people you don’t even know and with no privacy in which to be able to rest and relax, is not conducive to any of us being able to give it our best on stage, particularly myself.  So that’s something we will definitely not be doing.   We have also decided that we do not want to be shunted into the usual venues that every tour seems to hit, but rather to choose to play better venues, with better facilities not only for ourselves, but also for the audience, wherever possible”.

In addition to the series of individual SHINING will also be playing at various festivals during the year.  Confirmed appearances so far are:

With SHINING’s ninth full-length album  “IX / Everyone, Everything, Everywhere, Ends” hitting the streets world-wide on Season of Mist, the band has announced that it will play a series of dates in Germany in November.  Supporting SHINING on the tour will be German bands IMPERIUM DEKADENZ and DER WEG EINER FREIHEIT .  Tickets for the tour will go on sale on the 21 April.  Routing as follows:

SWEDEN’S VANHELGA RELEASES DIGI ALBUM

Sweden’s VANHELGA, one of the more extreme and uncompromising exponents of DSBM, and a band that seems to exist at the centre a maelstrom of creative output, is set to release a digital mini album on the 12th March. With the band’s sense of irony fully intact, the 5-track album is titled “Happiness” and is available directly from the band at https://vanhelga.bandcamp.com/album/happiness where it will be available at a special price, including wallpaper,  for the first few days, as well as from the usual digital distribution and streaming outlets.

Commenting on the new release, VANHELGA founder J. Ottosson, aka 145188 (ex-LIFELOVER (live session musician), ex-SKOGSTRON) had this to say: ” My constant need to write and record is a by-product of my mental state, and I am the first one to admit that whilst recording this I was under the strong influence of drugs. This resulted in a piece of work that is an expression of the effect of the use of self-destructive tools like drugs and self-mutilation in order to feel “happy”. Although we have a new VANHELGA album coming out on Art of Propaganda later in the year, I had a lot of material ready that I wanted to get out before then, and so we thought we’d do a digital self-release. Particularly since some of the material on “Happiness” might not necessarily fit in with the more “traditional” VANHELGA sound, and fans might find themselves a bit surprised by some of it”.

VANHELGA is also set to appear on an upcoming four-way split with OFDRYKKJA, PSYCHONAUT 4 and IN LUNA which will be released jointly on Art of Propaganda and Talheim Records on the 6th April. Titled “Urban Negativism”, VANHELGA will contribute two new tracks and a LIFELOVER cover to the ten-track album, which will first be released in a digipack format, with a vinyl version likely to appear later.

VANHELGA’s next live appearance will be at Kings of Black Metal in Alsfeld, Germany on the 24th April.

Commenting on the track, Kvarforth had this to say: “The time has come to share a little bit of the darkness that will infect the world’s population in a few months. The song chosen for this specific event is called “Vilja & Dröm”. The track reminds me of our earlier days, when I was still mostly focusing on metal. VANHELGA EXPLAIN CONCEPT BEHIND UPCOMING SWEDISH TOUR

Swedish Depressive Black Metallers VANHELGA have explained the concept behind their upcoming tour in their home country later this month which they will undertake along with KALL and HARAKIRI FOR THE SKY.  “It is”, says founder and bassist J Ottoson, ” a rather unique event in which we use music to portray the grey, and on occasion, somewhat miserable everyday existence of the average Swede.  Having said that, we can assure the fans that the shows themselves will be far from being grey experiences, but  we have always found it interesting that other nationalities believe that the Swedish people are gloomier and more reclusive than others, and we thought that it would be interesting to explore this phenomenon further in front of Swedish audiences.  We have called the tour ‘Svensk Uppgivenhet’, which is a classic phrase meaning “Swedish Melancholy”, or as some prefer to call it “Swedish Resignation”.

VANHELGA is a band that fits just as well in the Black Metal genre as it does in what is described as DSBM both in sound and subject matter.  Something that they ably illustrated in the recently released video for the track “Där Evigheten Inväntar Mig” from the new album.   Formed in Linköping, Sweden, in 2001, today’s lineup includes founder J. Ottosson, aka 145188 (former live session musician for LIFELOVER and ex-SKOGSTRON) on Bass, Guitars and Vocals, J. Gabrielson (ESKAPI, ex-LIFELOVER) on Vocals, J. Ejnarsson (TAKETH) and Wadström (ex-SKOGSTRON) on guitars and D. Formed in Linköping, Sweden, in 2001 by musicians looking for an outlet for their own expression and creativity rather than having to perform other people’s music, VANHELGA’s distinctive, and at times unsettling, sound  straddles the divide between the Black Metal and DSBM genres.  Today’s lineup includes founder J. Sweden’s VANHELGA  have today unveiled a video for a track from their upcoming third full-length release “Längtan”.  The track chosen to feature in the video is “Där Evigheten Inväntar Mig”, and the video itself tells the disturbing story of a man who wakes up in a confused state and with the dawning realization that he probably tortured and killed his best friend the day before.  The video for “Där Evigheten Inväntar Mig” can be seen below and on VANHELGA’s YouTube channel at http://youtu.be/N1fiCNTUi3I

With their new  album “Längtan” due for release on the 28th of April, Sweden’s VANHELGA have today revealed more information on what will be their third full-length release.  Taking longing and death as its theme, “Längtan” explores the idea that death is not an ending, but the beginning of a life free from all the strictures imposed on us by society, and that death should be something to be longed for, rather than feared.  The album will be released in CD format on the Art of Propaganda label on the 28th April, and in vinyl format on Carnal Records on a date as yet to be confirmed.  Artwork for “Längtan” is by the Spanish artist Juanjo Castellano.
