NORWEGIAN BLACK METALLERS CREST OF DARKNESS TO TOUR WITH MARDUK IN EUROPE

Veteran Norwegian Black Metallers  CREST OF DARKNESS are set to support Swedish Black Metal legends MARDUK on their Frontschwein 2015 – EUROPA Part III Tour, which will take place over 18 dates in October in Europe and the Balkans.  Also on the tour are  France’s SVART CROWN and Greece’s BIO CANCER.  Whilst joining for parts of the tour will be Slovenia’s CVINGER (from the 8th to the 16th) and Poland’s SARTAN (from the 17th to the 25th).  Routing for the tour as follows:

With over two decades of experience, six full-length albums and various EP’s under their belts, CREST OF DARKNESS’ sonic brutality, expertly combined with epic musical passages,  straddles the boundary between Black and Death Metal with consummate ease.  Their  last album, “In the Presence of Death”, saw CREST OF DARKNESS  at the top of their game, and was  described by many as the very essence of Extreme Metal.  The band’s recent release, the four-track EP, titled “Evil Messiah”,  which was  released in both in Digipack CD and 12″ vinyl formats on My Kingdom Music in February of this year, included a cover version of Alice Cooper’s “Sick Things”,  the perfect choice for a band who excel at creating an evil, malignant,  atmosphere.

The Frontschwein 2015 – EUROPA Part III tour will be the first time that the new CREST OF DARKNESS lineup will tour together.  Having appeared at various shows and festivals, the lineup, which comprises founder, frontman and bassist Ingar Amlien (ROQUEFIRE, CONCEPTION, AMLIEN’s INFERNO),  Rebo on guitars,  Bernhard (Ex- PALE FOREST) on drums and Kristian Wentzel  on keyboards, are more than ready to hit the road.

Formed in 2013 by George Emmanuel (ROTTING CHRIST, ex-CHAOSTAR) and Stathis Ridis (NIGHTFALL), LUCIFER’s CHILD was snapped up earlier this year by Norway’s Dark Essence Records, who are set to release the band’s debut full-length album “The Wiccan” on the 25th September.  With artwork by Stathis Ridis’ AmazeMe Design company, track listing for the eight-track album,  which was recorded in Athens, Greece, in 2014, is as follows:

Together with Marios Dupont on vocals and Nick Vell on drums, Emmanuel (guitars) and Stathis (bass),  have taken the classic Greek Black Metal sound and given it a dimension that is entirely their own, with songs ranging from the epic and monumental to pure aggression.   Formed with the intention of performing the kind of music that would serve as a spiritual introduction to the atmospheric world of a Summoning, the band seeks to create a unity between the spiritual ideas behind each song and the immensely heavy and mid-paced music itself, thereby presenting the audience not only with a taste of their electrifying Black Metal, but also a sense of ritualistic energy.

NORWEGIAN BLACK METALLERS SVARTELDER POST TEASER VIDEO FOR UPCOMING RELEASE

Norwegian Black Metallers SVARTELDER, whose lineup includes members of CARPATHIAN FOREST, IN THE WOODS, DEN SAAKALDTE, PANTHEON I and OLD FOREST, have today released a teaser video that gives a taste of what to expect from their upcoming digital EP release.  The EP, which will be titled “Askebundet” is set for release on the 10th July via SVARTELDER’s BandCamp page at https://svartelder.bandcamp.com/  where the title track of the EP is currently available as a single.

After an initial flurry of activity, SVARTELDER largely remained dormant until founder and  frontman Doedsadmiral, decided to reactivate the project with an infusion of new blood in the shape of vastly experienced musicians who have taken the band’s original old-school Norwegian Black Metal roots and contributed their own individual styles to broaden the whole sound and take it in new directions.

Interestingly, the musicians themselves have chosen to use different names for their work in SVARTELDER,  something that allows  them to explore new avenues without any of the pre-conceptions and expectations from fans that may arise because of their previous bodies of work.  Aside from Doedsadmiral on vocals, the rest of the lineup comprises Maletoth on bass and guitars, AK-47 on drums, and Kobold on keys.

Formed in 2008 by TAAKE’s live guitarist Gjermund Fredheim and ex- BYFROST drummer Rune Nesse, and with a lineup that now includes former GRIMNORTH  bassist Sindre Hillesdal and frontman Einar Fjelldal (ex-GRAVEMACHINE),  Norwegian Black Metallers ORKAN are set to release a new full-length album, which will be titled “Livlaus”,  on Dark Essence Records on the 11th September.    As a taste of what to expect from an album that includes guest appearances from TAAKE’s Hoest and HELHEIM’s V’gandr, the track “Livlaus del 2: Dødens Dal” has been debuted on the label’s SoundCloud page and can be heard below and at https://soundcloud.com/dark-essence-records/orkan-livlaus-del-2-dodens-dal

Unlike ORKAN’s debut full-length  “Crimson Canvas”,  which was, according to the band, “a self-financed, thrashy album”, “Livlaus” has a much darker, uncompromising feel, with atmospheric melodies, haunting vocals and intense blastbeats.  The concept of the album was inspired by the forests and sulphur mines found around Drummer Rune Nesse’s hometown of Stord, on the west coast of Norway, and deals with a lost soul trying to find peace in the Kingdom of the Dead.

With a Black Metal sound that features elements of Thrash and other Extreme genres, the   seven-track album was recorded live in the studio and no editing was carried out on the basic tracks.  Vocals and effects were added later.  Artwork for  “Livlaus”, which will be the band’s sophomore full-length album,  is by Tom Korsvold , and track listing is as follows:

With a release date set for the 11th September, Dark Essence Records have revealed details for the upcoming sophomore full-length album from Norwegian Black Metallers ORKAN.  Titled “Livlaus”, the seven-track album was recorded live in the studio, with no editing of the basic tracks, whilst vocals and effects were added later. Hoest (TAAKE) and V’gandr (HELHEIM) perform guest vocals on two of the tracks.

“Livlaus” promises to be an uncompromising album, whose Black Metal influenced sound features elements from Thrash and  other Extreme genres,  and creates atmospheric melodies with haunting vocals and intense blastbeats.   With Norwegian lyrics, the whole album is loosely based on the concept of a lost soul trying to find peace in the Kingdom of the Dead, and was inspired  by the forests and old sulphur mines in the area around drummer Rune Nesse’s hometown of Stord, on the west coast of Norway.

FORMER CARPATHIAN FOREST GUITARISTS DEBUT TRACK FROM UPCOMING 3RD ATTEMPT ALBUM. DETAILS AND ARTWORK REVEALED

When, in late 2014, guitarists Tchort and BloodPervertor announced that they were leaving Black Metal titans CARPATHIAN FOREST to form their own band 3rd ATTEMPT, there were some who questioned the wisdom of leaving the safety of such an iconic band in order to start something new.  But, less than a year later,  on the 25th September,  Dark Essence Records is set to release the band’s debut full-length album “Born in Thorns”, which will show just how right the two renowned guitarists were in deciding to leave an environment they felt had become stale and stifling, in order to feel the rush of creativity and enthusiasm once again.

Barely drawing breath after their announcement,  Tchort (GREEN CARNATION, ex-CARPATHIAN FOREST, ex EMPEROR, ex BLOOD RED THRONE) and BloodPervertor ( ex-CARPATHIAN FOREST) chose Ødemark (ex-MIDNATTSVREDE) as their vocalist, following online auditions that elicited responses from both experienced and new vocalists from all over the world.  The lineup was then completed with the addition of drummer Tybalt (FORTID, DEN SAAKALDTE) whose performance as a session drummer for the 3rd ATTEMPT at this year’s Blastfest convinced the others that he was the man for the job.

With producer Endre Kirkesola, known for his work with CARPATHIAN FOREST,  BLOOD RED THRONE, GREEN CARNATION, URGEHAL, TSJUDER,  at the helm,  3rd ATTEMPT entered the Studio Sanden in Kristiansand to record “Born in Thorns”.  Mixing and mastering was done by Marius Strand at the Strand Studio.  This is an album that showcases the well-known writing skills of the two founders,  as well as contributions from the new members, and turns the old-school Black Metal vibe up several notches by introducing different elements, including rock n roll/black n roll, to produce a unique take on the Classic Black Metal sound, giving it a fresh feeling and a distinctive groove.

SCANDINAVIAN BLACK METALLERS NORDJEVEL REVEAL TRACK AND VIDEO FROM DEBUT FULL-LENGTH ALBUM

Although as a band NORDJEVEL is a newcomer to the scene, the individual musicians definitely are not.  With a lineup that includes Djevel (SVARTELDER, DOEDSVANGR) on vocals, Nord (FATAL IMPACT, BYRDI) on guitars and bass, and Fredrik Widigs on drums, NORDJEVEL have not wasted any time in getting down to writing and recording material for their debut full-length album. Nor have they wasted any time in allowing fans to have a taste of what to expect from this combination of Norwegian and Swedish musicians, and have today debuted the track “Denne Tidløse Krigsdom” both on SoundCloud at https://soundcloud.com/nordjevelofficial/denne-tidlose-krigsdom  or on YouTube in a video by Prometheus Art & Design which can be seen below and at https://youtu.be/MVhzOjhJNOI

NORDJEVEL, which translated means Northern Devil, was formed by Djevel and Nord earlier this year, when, after having had various conversations, they found that their views on Black Metal, the Occult and the origins of Norway were perfectly in synch.  When the idea of the band was mentioned to Swedish Drummer Fredrik Widigs, he was interested enough to join the lineup.  Although his commitments to his other projects preclude him from committing to appearing live with the band, he will nevertheless be a full-time studio member of NORDJEVEL and contribute significantly to writing and arranging the music along with Djevel and Nord.

The band are currently in the pre-production stage of their debut album, which will be titled “Djevelen I Nord” and includes guest appearances from TROLL’s Nagash amongst others.  A label is currently being sought.

ALFAHANNE AND DARK ESSENCE RECORDS REVEAL ALL FOUR GUESTS ON UPCOMING ALBUM

HORNA frontman Spellgoth will be joining KVELERTAK’s  Erlend Hjelvik,  SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, and SORHIN’s Nattfursth on the upcoming album from Swedish “Alfapokalyptic” Rockers ALFHANNE, who, together with their label Dark Essence Records, have been running a competition over the past couple of months, inviting fans to guess the guests and win a copy of the new album.

“The competition has been a lot of fun for us” commented the band, “and hopefully the fans have enjoyed it too – we’ve certainly been receiving entries from all parts of the world.  Our guests on this album are all from quite different bands, and are are musicians for whom we have a great admiration and we were more than excited when they agreed to perform guest vocals.  From the comments we’ve been getting it seems that the fans feel the same way too.  Obviously we can’t reveal too much about the new album at the moment, except to say that it will be out in September, but Dark Essence Records will be revealing more information soon, and you’ll get a chance to hear something from it too!”

Formed in 2010 ALFAHANNE’s lineup of  Pehr Skjoldhammer on Vocals and Guitar, Fredrik Sööberg on Guitars, Niklas Åström on Drums and Jimmy Wiberg on Bass,  have a good two decades of experience under their belts, having been around the Black Metal scene since the early ‘90’s, in bands like VINTERLAND and early MAZE OF TORMENT.     Their self-styled  “Alfapokalyptic Rock”, which mixes Black Metal with Classic Rock and Punk, combined with their charismatic and high-energy live shows,  has gained the band a legion of fans, both inside and outside of Europe.

ALFAHANNE AND DARK ESSENCE RECORDS REVEAL THIRD GUEST AND ANNOUNCE FINAL “GUESS THE GUEST” COMPETITION IN RUN-UP TO ALBUM RELEASE

Over the past few weeks fans of Sweden’s ALFAHANNE have been having a bit of fun by entering a competition to win a copy of the band’s next album by guessing who the guests will be on the upcoming release. With two guests and two winners already announced, the band and their label, Dark Essence Records, have now announced that the third guest will be KVELERTAK frontman  Erlend Hjelvik (photo below).    He will be joining SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, and SORHIN’s Nattursth on what will be the self-styled Alfapocalyptic Rockers’ sophomore full-length album, which is due for release in the Autumn.

With only one more guest left to announce, and one CD left to win, the clues to the final “Guess the Guest” competition are as follows:

1)  This guest is the vocalist for one of the top Finnish Black Metal bands which was originally formed in 1993

2) The meaning of the Finnish name of this guest’s band is “abyss”

3) When one of the early vocalists with this guest’s band left,  he became the musician that is known today as Satanic Warmaster’s Werwolf.

4)  This guest will be appearing at the Tuska Open Air Festival Pre-Party this year, fronting another of his bands, TURMION KÄTILÖT,  the day before Alfahanne themselves are due to appear at the festival

Anyone wishing to enter the ALFAHANNE / DARK ESSENCE RECORDS “Guess the Guest” competition should email their guess and their name and address to ALFAHANNE’s management on info@pthomasmanagement.com  (use Alfahanne Competition in the Subject line) or drop the band a private message on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/alfahanneofficial  by the 11th June.   The  winner  will receive a copy of the new album as soon as it is released.

For those who were not already aware, ALFAHANNE, a band known for their interaction with fans,  together with their label Dark Essence Records,  have been running a “Guess the Guest” competition in the run up to the release of the band’s sophomore full-length album later this year.   With SHINING frontman NIKLAS KVARFORTH already announced as the first guest, the band and its label are ready to  announced that the second of four guest on the band’s upcoming sophomore full-length album will be NATTFURSTH from the iconic Swedish Black Metal band SORHIN (photo below).

“We really wanted to get the fans to join us in having some fun while we all wait for the new album” said the band.  “And from the feedback we’re getting, it seems the fans are really getting into it, which is great.  We knew Kvarforth would be easy to guess as we have worked together often, both live and in the studio, but we weren’t so sure about Nattfursth, who  is someone we’ve admired for a long time and were very excited to have work with us.  We  needn’t have been worried, and it’s a real tribute to his standing in the world of Black Metal that the entries to the competition started pouring in right away.  We think the next guest will be pretty easy to guess, so enjoy the guessing, and we look forward to receiving your entries”.

The clues for guest number three are as follows:

1)  This guest is the vocalist for a Norwegian band whose name means “stranglehold” or “chokehold”

2) The favourite animal of this guest’s band is the owl

3) The band loves owls so much that this guest has been known to appear on stage wearing an owl headdress

4) This guest’s band released their debut full-length album on Indie Recordings, before moving to Roadrunner Records for the release of their sophomore full-length
