AVANTGARDE METALLERS IF NOTHING IS DEBUT TRACK FROM UPCOMING ALBUM

Having recently added Avantgarde Metallers IF NOTHING is to its roster, Dark Essence Records have wasted no time in planning the release of the band’s 2015 self-titled debut album, which originally saw the light of day only through a limited selection of digital platforms, and never received the kind of exposure that the brainchild of DØDHEIMSGARD bassist Lars Emil Måløy richly deserved.

The album itself has been completely re-mixed and re-mastered, and ranges from thrash, speed and death to black metal, and which, as a consequence, is the embodiment of what lies at the heart of extreme and technical metal music. And today, Dark Essence Records have given us a taste of what to expect with the release of the track “Anti Horde”, about which IF NOTHING IS have this to say:

A decade after it was written the “Anti Horde” rises to new heights with an updated mix and new mastering. “Anti Horde” is about disowning the alpha stereotypes, humiliating leader figures and taking your own path. It is an action we condone, no matter what your path might be (as long as it is leftwards) . To this day this track still gives us goose bumps, so give it a spin. You might even like it!

“If Nothing Is” is an album that melds sharp technical skills and creative songwriting with a keen eye for detail and a streak of madness. It is intersected with progressive, experimental passages and rich jazzy parts, with each song a journey in itself.

With DØDHEIMSGARD’s Vicotnik weaving his magic on synths, beats and samples, and with brand new original artwork by Ulf Simon Lindgren “If Nothing Is” will hit the streets in for the first time ever in CD and Vinyl (as a transparent clear double LP with gatefold cover) as well as digitally on the 10th September. Avantgarde Metallers IF NOTHING IS, have inked a deal with Dark Essence Records which will see the label release the band’s debut full-length album this year.

The brainchild of DØDHEIMSGARD bassist Lars Emil Måløy, IF NOTHING IS rose up in Trondheim, Norway, from the ashes of extreme metallers REVOCATION in 2008. This signaled not only a name change, but also a new musical direction for the lineup that today comprises Boeddelen on vocals and lyrics, Håkon Grytvik and Mats Stenberg on guitars, Lars Emil Måløy on bass, FX, backing vocals, lyrics, main composer and Vegard Myrdal Berg on drums, backing vocals and lyrics.

Having being able to call on the talents of DØDHEIMSGARD’s Vicotnik to work his magic with synths, beats and samples, IF NOTHING IS released their self-titled debut album in 2015, but only via a selection of digital platforms. Consequently it never received the kind of exposure that it deserved, melding, as it did, sharp technical skills and creative songwriting with a keen eye for detail and a streak of madness. Intersected with progressive, experimental passages and rich jazzy parts, the album is reminiscent of the early efforts of bands like ATHEIST and CYNIC, with each song a journey in itself.

What IF NOTHING IS created with their first foray into the studio is an album that exemplifies everything that lies at the heart of extreme and technical metal music, ranging from thrash, speed and death to black metal. And Dark Essence have recognized that this album was never meant to lie in relative obscurity, and to this end the album was re-mixed and re-mastered and will be released for the first time in CD and Vinyl formats as well as digitally.

Stig Kenneth Limmesand has done a great job with the video for “The God Of Flesh”. He’s succeeded in capturing CREST OF DARKNESS and all our symbolism in the best possible way, presenting them in a such a way that is not only up to date, but also very much “Old School” in the “right way”

Released on My Kingdom Music in December of last year, “The God Of Flesh” is still filled with CREST OF DARKNESS’ trademark Satanic themes, but, at the same time, it marks a change to the feel, variety, and depth of the music. It is, according to Amlien, “probably the darkest and most brutal album we’ve ever made! It’s also the most honest work ever from my perspective”

With “The God Of Flesh” CREST OF DARKNESS’ vastly experienced, and extremely skilled, lineup of Amlien (CONCEPTION, ROQUEFIRE, AMLIEN’s INFERNO) on Bass and Vocals, Rebo on Rhythm and Lead Guitars, and Berhard (ex- PALE FOREST) on Drums, along with the album’s session keyboardist Kristian Wentzel, demonstrate how equally at home they with more progressive and melodic elements, as they are the with the aggressive and dark brutal side, for which they are known.

DEATH METALLERS RATTENFÄNGER REVEAL NEW SINGLE FROM UPCOMING ALBUM

Taking their name from the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin (Rattenfänger von Hameln), RATTENFÄNGER’s lineup of Thurios on guitars, Krechet on bass, Vlad on drums, and keyboards, and Roman on guitars and vocals, are soon to release “Geisslerlieder”, a sophomore full-length album that is more ambient, but heavier and more aggressive than their critically acclaimed debut full-length “Epistolae Obscurorum Virorum”.

With its release set for the 6th December, Dark Essence Records are treating fans to a second glimpse of what the Ukranian Death Metal legends will have to offer with their the long-awaited second full-length album, by releasing a second single from “Geisslerlieder”

After a seven-year wait since the release of RATTENFÄNGER ‘s debut album, Dark Essence Records have today revealed details of the long-awaited second album from the Ukranian Death Metal legends. Titled ” Geisslerlieder” the seven-track album is set for release on the 6th December in CD and Digital formats.

DARK METALLERS AETERNUS COMPLETE WORK ON EIGHTH FULL-LENGTH ALBUM

Veteran Norwegian Dark Metallers AETERNUS have completed work on what will be the band’s eighth full-length album. Titled “Heathen”, the seven-track album was recorded at Bergen’s Conclave & Earshot studios and produced by Herbrand Larsen, and is set for release on Dark Essence Records later this year.

One of the pioneers of the “Dark Metal” genre, AETERNUS was formed in 1993 by guitarist and frontman Ares. The band’s sound is one that combines features from both Black Metal and Death Metal, interspersed with haunting, melodic interludes, all topped off with skilled musicianship. Commenting on what fans can expect from “Heathen”, an album which will also mark AETERNUS’ 25th Anniversary, the band had this to say:

” We feel we’ve produced seven great songs for “Heathen”, all with AETERNUS’ trademark sound, which is a mix of complex extreme music along with heavy riffs and of course some great melodic features. You could say that we are more than satisfied with the results”.

Aside from Ares, AETERNUS’ lineup is composed of Phobos (GRAVDAL) on drums and KRAKOW’s Eld on bass, and sharp-eyed fans will notice that guitarist Specter is missing. As the band explains:

“Before having fully completed the composition part of “Heathen”, Specter felt that he had little more to offer the band, and that his long search for music was not only taking up too much of his own time, but it was also slowing down AETERNUS’ progress, and as a result, he decided that it was best for all concerned that he quit the band. He did however compose several terrific riffs which we feel are outstanding, and they have been included in the album. We would like to thank Specter for all his work with AETERNUS, and wish him all the best for the future.

“This of course means that once again AETERNUS has recorded an album where Ares’ considerable skills have been put to good use, and he has composed and played all the guitar leads on “Heathen”. We’re sure that having read this, fans are wondering what is going to happen as far as live performances go. No problem there! We have hired Gorm, from the Norse metal band THYRUZ, to play live with us, and he has been busy rehearsing our material. He will be more than ready when AETERNUS hits the stage again”.

RATTENFÄNGER BEGINS WORK ON SOPHOMORE FULL-LENGTH ALBUM

Having remained fairly quiet since the release of their 2012 debut album “Epistolae Obscurorum Virorum”, RATTENFÄNGER, whose lineup is comprised of musicians from bands such as DRUDKH, BLOOD OF KINGU, HATE FOREST and DARK AGES, are hard at work rehearsing new material for their follow up, which will be released on Dark Essence Records on a date as yet to be confirmed.

Formed in Ukraine, RATTENFÄNGER’s lineup includes Thurios on guitars, Krechet on bass, Vlad on drums and keyboards, and Roman on guitars and vocals, and they hint that fans can expect the sophomore album, which will be recorded during the summer and autumn of this year, to be more ambient, but heavier and more aggressive than the debut.

The name RATTENFÄNGER is taken from the legend of the Pied Piper of Hamelin (Rattenfänger von Hameln), who was hired by the townsfolk of Hameln, Germany, to rid the town of the rats that had overrun it. Unfortunately he is deceived and cheated of his payment, and he exacts a dreadful revenge on the citizens.
