The year is 2000, and it is the year that Norwegian Prog Legends WHITE WILLOW released what would be the band’s third full-length album.  Titled “Sacrament” the album would undergo a long, painstaking creative process, one that would ensure that the arrangements of each song were inventive, dynamic, and above all, beautiful.

After a lengthy period of rehearsals at the Norwegian Institute for Scene and Studio, WHITE WILLOW entered Lydkjøkkenet, a brand new studio run by Øystein Vesaas, a talented engineer whose patience and personality were a perfect fit for the band, allowing them time to experiment and try out different variations.

Recorded over an extended period of time, due to the fact that WHITE WILLOW’s founder Jacob Holm-Lupo was holding down a full-time job, the sessions for “Sacrament” would often run from the evening until well into the night. Despite the punishing schedule,  the whole band felt energized and believed totally in the material they were working on, so that instead of feeling onerous, the whole experience is remembered by them as an enjoyable time.

It is creation about which Holm-Lupo says:

“Sacrament” is the first album where I think we did everything really well”

It was during the making of “Sacrament”, that the Prog scene itself was undergoing a period in which certain elements of the genre were beginning to filter through into mainstream music, which in itself gave WHITE WILLOW somewhat of a motivational boost.  The end result was an album  that not only received glowing reviews world-wide and healthy sales figures, it also received some mainstream recognition.

Now, as part of Karisma Records plans to re-release six albums from WHITE WILLOWS’ back catalogue, “Sacrament” has been  meticulously remastered by Holm-Lupo himself to become the third of the six scheduled releases.

Set to appear on the 5th July, this will be the first time that “Sacrament” will be released in vinyl format, and, along with the Limited Edition White Vinyl, it will also be available in CD and Digital formats.

Presented with the classic original cover art, track listing on “Sacrament” is as follows:

1. Anamnesis
2. Paper Moon
3. The Crucible
4. The Last Rose of Summer
5. Gnostalgia
6. The Reach

WHITE WILLOW was formed in 1992 by guitarist Jacob Holm-Lupo, who at that time was a member of the POLICE/BRUCE HORNSBY-inspired pop band THE ORCHID GARDEN, and keyboard player Jan Tariq Rahman from local jazz-rock/prog rock band DUGGVÅTE DVE.

It was a case of two musicians coming together see if they had any kind of songwriting chemistry, and, whilst sitting on the floor playing acoustic guitar and clavinet, produced the track “Snowfall” which convinced them that they could, indeed, come up with something worthwhile.

WHITE WILLOW’s history, however, was never simple, with members having come and gone over the years  and only Holm-Lupo having remained with the band since its inception, whilst WOBBLER’s Lars Fredrik Frøislie has been a mainstay since 2001.

The band’s  sound too has undergone changes, but it’s safe to say that it is frequently centered around female vocals and an expanded instrumentation that usually includes a host of analogue synthesizers, mellotron, woodwinds and strings, in addition, of course, to traditional rock instrumentation.

Now, exclusively a studio project, WHITE WILLOW is noted for featuring guest appearances from prominent musicians such as  Norway’s guitar hero Hedvig Mollestad, or internationally renowned klezmer clarinetist David Krakauer.

By the time the re-release project is finished, Karisma Records will have released all six of the following albums:

Ignis Fatuus – 1995 (released Nov 2023)
Ex Tenebris – 1997 (released April 2024)
Sacrament – 2000  (due for release July 2024)
Storm Season – 2004
Signal to Noise – 2006
Terminal Twilight – 2011

When WOBBLER’s keyboard player LARS FREDRIK FRØISLIE released his debut solo album “Fire Fortellinger” on Karisma records in 2023, he had always had a certain vision in mind for the track “Et sted under himmelhvelvet”, and now, thanks to Karisma Records, that vision is about to become a reality, with the release of the track as a very special single featuring STEFANO “LUPO” GALIFI, the legendary vocalist from the equally legendary Italian Prog band MUSEO ROSENBACH.

FRØISLIE who is himself a huge fan of Italian Prog in general and of MUSEO ROSENBACH in particular,  explains:

When I wrote “Et sted under himmelhvelvet”, I imagined an Italian version in my head with just STEFANO “LUPO” GALIFI’S vocals. Not so surprising, perhaps, since he is one of my my  favourite vocalists. I have loved his slightly raspy, but powerful and soulful vocals, ever since I discovered MUSEO ROSENBACH as a teenager.

When the opportunity presented itself, I thought it couldn’t hurt to ask him, and it gave me much joy that he was actually willing to sing on this one. Especially since he sings just as well today as he did 50 years ago.

For me, it was both emotional and surreal to hear a voice I have known and loved throughout much of my life, singing one of my songs.

Finally, I must thank Sergio Lombardi, who both put me in touch with Stefano, and translated the text into Italian for me.

The song “Et sted under himmelhvelvet” itself is a dreamy piece that conjures up images of a Renaissance garden near Florence or Arcadia. But, in fact,  it could be anywhere where it feels good to be. It is partly about travelling to a place and feeling that you have been there before – only to find out that you had ancestors who lived there long ago.

Set for release on the 20th June, the single will only be available as a Limited Edition 10″ Vinyl, strictly limited to 200 copies worldwide, as well as a digital version.

Side A features STEFANO ‘LUPO’ GALIFI singing “Un Posto Sotto il Cielo”, the Italian language version of “Et sted under himmelhvelvet”,  whilst side B features the original Norwegian version.

The 10″ Vinyl will come with a  single in brown kraft paper sleeve, reminiscent of the good old 78 RPM gramophone records, and is now available to pre-order from:

All things have a beginning, a middle and an end, and so it is with the fantasy trilogy by Norwegian Prog Rockers THE CHRONICLES OF FATHER ROBIN, who follow the adventures of the mystical creature Father Robin over the triple concept album “The Songs & Tales of Airoea”.

Starting out with “Book I:  The Tale of Father Robin (The State of Nature)” which was released in September of 2023 and is set on the land , followed by the December release of “Book II: Ocean Traveller  (Metamorphosis)”, which takes place on the sea,  we now come to 2024 and the much-anticipated release of “Book III: Magical Chronicle (Ascension)” which takes place in the Cloud Lands in the Sky and is due to hit the streets on the 23 February.

And today, Karisma Records have released the opening track from the album as a single.  Titled “Magical Chronicle”, it is a vocal driven track full of lush harmonies and clear references to prog classics such as GENTLE GIANT, YEZDA URFA and the Canterbury Scene.

“Magical Chronicle“,  can be downloaded or streamed from a variety of services at :

https://link.karismarecords.no/TCOFR_MagicalChronicle

The lineup of THE CHRONICLES OF FATHER ROBIN (or TCOFR for short) draws its members from some of the most respected bands on Norway’s Prog Rock scene, and as a result you will find musicians from WOBBLER, JORDSJØ, TUSMØRKE and seasoned post-rockers THE SAMUEL JACKSON FIVE in its ranks.

Emerging during 1993-94 from what was left of the band FANGORN, and inspired in large part by the classic bands and albums that were part of the 1970s progressive music scene, it took thirty years for TCOFR to complete “The Songs & Tales of Airoea”, trilogy.

The result of these thirty years of work is the creation of a whole fantastical world through which Father Robin travels and undergoes a whole series of adventures spanning three decades and told through 18 songs spread out over the three albums.

Contributors to the Trilogy include Thomas Kaldhol (MT. MELODIÉ, THE SAMUEL JACKSON FIVE), Lars Fredrik Frøislie (WOBBLER, IN LINGUA MORTUA, WHITE WILLOW), folksinger Aleksandra Morozova (MT. MELODIE, OSLO PHILHARMONIC CHOIR), Kristoffer Momrak (ALWANZATAR, TUSMØRKE, LES FLEURS DU MAL), Håkon Oftung (JORDSJØ) and illustrator Lars Kvernberg.

Tracklisting on “Book III: Magical Chronicle (Ascension)” (which follows on directly from Books I and II) is as follows:

13. Magical Chronicle
14. Skyslumber
15. Cloudship
16. Empress of the Sun
17. Lost in the Palace Gardens
18. Epilogue

“Book III” will be released in CD, Digital and LP formats and is available to pre-order from:

Webshop: https://www.karismarecords.no/shop/
Bandcamp: https://fatherrobin.bandcamp.com
US Webshop: https://karismarecords.indiemerch.com

“Book III” makes a fitting closing chapter to the trilogy, starting off as it does with the upbeat  “Magical Chronicle”, followed by  the atmospheric “Skyslumber”, and “Cloudship”, the soaring prog ballad that YES never wrote. The album then explodes into the dynamic psych-rocker “Empress of the Sun”, a song full of energy and contrast that eventually slides into a keyboard lead middle part that is reminiscent of THE DOORS at their most adventurous.

The closing part of “Book III” begins with “Lost in the Palace Gardens” a track that starts off with a beautiful acoustic guitar part that not only brings to mind British folk bands such as STEELEYE SPAN, but also the guitar work of a certain JIMMY PAGE.  The track follows up with vocal parts where the voices of Andreas Prestmo and Aleksandra Morozova flawlessly complement each other, making it a perfect culmination of this highly ambitious body of work.

THE CHRONICLES OF FATHER ROBIN are set to appear at the 21st International Art Rock Festival Minnuendö at the Peralta Auditorium in Navarra, Spain on the 11th May.

With a band name like THE CHRONICLES OF FATHER ROBIN (TCOFR for short) and an album with the title “The Songs & Tales of Airoea – Book 1”, your guess would be that you will be stepping into the realms of fantasy. And indeed you would be right, as you will discover on the 15 September when Karisma Records, in tandem with TCOFR’s own label, Old Oak Records, releases the band’s debut album onto an unsuspecting public.

Intrigued?  Well, before delving deeper into the album itself, and the artists behind it, how about listening to a taster to get you into the swing of things, and where better than by heading to your favourite service to download or stream the track “Eleision Forest” from the album which you will find at

https://link.karismarecords.no/The-Chronicles-of-Father-Robin_Eleision-Forest

“Eleision Forest” is a journey of close to 12 minutes and combines the energy  of classic 70’s hard rock, with the earthbound authenticity of folksy and pastoral music, along with the sky-soaring climaxes reminiscent of those you will find on old prog relics in your forefathers collection.

Expect to hear hard rocking guitars, a rhythm section on fire with grooves like Bonham, acoustic soundscapes, lush vocal harmonies of the male and female variety, and a wide array of flutes, organs and mellotrons, all on a track that was chosen by the band itself to act as an introduction to TCOFR.

As TCOFR explains:

With its roots in a high school lecture on Greek Mythology “Eleision Forest”, was actually the song that started the whole concept back in 1993. And from the dense woodlands of this epic,  the path of Father Robin has meandered its way the length and breadth of Airoea these last 30 years. It seems fitting, therefore that “Eleision Forest” should receive the honour of introducing the band and our album trilogy to the world.

Inspired by the classic bands and albums of the early 1970s progressive music scene, as well as  contemporary bands such as ÄNGLAGÅRD, ANEKDOTEN, WHITE WILLOW and LANDBERK,  TCOFR was formed by WOBBLER frontman Andreas W. S. Prestmo, who was joined by childhood friends Jon and Henrik, with whom Prestmo shared a joint interest in folk tales, mythology, fantasy literature, psychedelia and adventurous music.

The final pieces of the puzzle fell into place with contributions from Thomas Kaldhol (MT. MELODIÉ, THE SAMUEL JACKSON FIVE), Lars Fredrik Frøislie (WOBBLER, IN LINGUA MORTUA, WHITE WILLOW), folksinger Aleksandra Morozova (MT. MELODIE, OSLO PHILHARMONIC CHOIR), Kristoffer Momrak (ALWANZATAR, TUSMØRKE, LES FLEURS DU MAL), Håkon Oftung (JORDSJØ) and illustrator Lars Kvernberg.

As the title suggests,  “The Songs & Tales of Airoea – Book 1”, is the first part of a trilogy set in the land of Airoea, and follows the story of the entity known as Father Robin, a mystical being that embodies all the members of the band. As each member met the challenges in their lives and grew as individuals, so the fantastical story of Father Robin and his travels through Airoea took shape.

The first recording sessions started at Bekk Studios in Jæren,  and the  whole of “The Songs & Tales of Airoea” Trilogy took 13 years to complete. It comprises a total of 16 songs spread out over the three albums.

“The Songs & Tales of Airoea – Book 1” will be released on Karisma Records in CD, Digital and Black Vinyl versions, whilst Old Oak Records will release a Deluxe Limited Edition coloured triple vinyl box set.  Tracklisting is as follows:

01. Prologue
02. The Tale for Father Robin
03. Eleision Forest
04. Death of the Fair Maiden
05. Twilight Fields
06. Unicorn

Inspired by the classic bands and albums of the early 1970s progressive music scene, as well as  contemporary bands ÄNGLAGÅRD, ANEKDOTEN, WHITE WILLOW and LANDBERK, THE CHRONICLES OF FATHER ROBIN (TCOFR for short) was founded back in 1993-94 by WOBBLER frontman Andreas W. S. Prestmo together with childhood friends Jon and Henrik, who shared a joint interest in folk tales, mythology, fantasy literature, psychedelia and adventurous music.

It was an exhilarating time filled with fiery discussions where we introduced each other to our latest musical, philosophical or literary discoveries and tried to win each other over. After a while, we created our own world inspired by these discoveries that besieged us.

From this period of creativity the story of the entity known as Father Robin emerged, a creature that embodied all the members of the band. As the members experienced challenges in life and developed as human beings, so the story of Father Robin took root in the mythical world of Airoea.

The first recording sessions started at Bekk Studios in Jæren, and over a span of 13 years they recorded what would eventually become “The Songs & Tales of Airoea”, which tells the tale of Father Robin’s journey in Airoea through 16 songs spread out over three albums.

After a recording session we would typically walk down to the nearby beach. We discussed what we had done that day, but very often we started talking about what Father Robin would do next in the story we were continually writing. Where was he really going? Which implications and consequences did the choices we made that day have to say for the road and songs ahead? Holistic impulsivity and ideas, altruistic friendship, music, fantasies and coherent concept – all melded together in one pot.

The final pieces of the puzzle fell into place with the contributions of Lars Fredrik Frøislie (WOBBLER, IN LINGUA MORTUA, WHITE WILLOW) folksinger Aleksandra Morozova (MT. MELODIE, OSLO PHILHARMONIC CHOIR), Kristoffer Momrak (ALWANZATAR, TUSMØRKE, LES FLEURS DU MAL), Håkon Oftung (JORDSJØ) and illustrator Lars Kvernberg.

Thus “The Songs & Tales of Airoea” trilogy was finally complete, which is where Karisma Records comes in, because this summer they will join forces with the TCOFR’s own label, Old Oak Records, to unleash this beast onto an unsuspecting public.

Karisma Records will release CD, Digital and Black Vinyl versions, whilst Old Oak Records will release a Deluxe Limited Edition coloured triple vinyl box set, something TCOFR have been looking forward to for a long, long, time:

The impulsive creative process and “collective brainstorming” that started in 1993 has more or less been the same all along. The ideas and the becoming concept have matured like an old wine in an abandoned fortress. We are now what we set out to be 30 years ago, and it feels bloody fantastic.

We’re therefore thrilled to be able announce this joint venture with Karisma Records, and proud to be a part of their ever-growing roster of exciting and talented artists. Karisma’s professional set up, network, and standing among artists and music lovers is a perfect match for THE CHRONICLES OF FATHER ROBIN. It’s been 30 years in the making, but now the dream finally comes true.

Full details of “The Songs & Tales of Airoea” trilogy will be released soon, and in the meantime a teaser for the album can be heard at www.fatherrobin.com

Whether by accident or design, Norway’s Karisma Records has gained quite a reputation for itself amongst Prog fans  for its ability to source, and release, long-unavailable, and much sought-after,  classic works from highly respected bands such as RUPHUS and ARABS IN ASPIC, to name but two.

Or, as WOBBLER, the label’s latest subject for a foray into back catalogues, would attest:

It’s fantastic for both a band and its fans to be given a chance to revisit (and for some to visit for the first time)  albums that have been sold out and basically impossible to get for years now (unless you are lucky enough to find copies on the internet and are prepared to pay hundreds of dollars).

Formed in Hønefoss in 1999, WOBBLER’s current  lineup features Lars Fredrik Frøislie on keyboards and backing vocals, Martin Nordrum Kneppen on drums, percussion and recorder, Kristian Karl Hultgren on bass, Andreas Wettergreen Strømman Prestmo on vocals, guitar  and percussion, and Marius Bergom Halleland on lead guitar and backing vocals.

Having released  the band’s fourth and fifth albums, Karisma Records, will be releasing WOBBLER’s first three albums on the 28th January 2022 and they will be available either as individual releases in both CD and Limited Edition Vinyl formats, as well as a three-album, limited edition box set.

The three albums in question are:

“Hinterland”,  WOBBLER’s 2005 debut full-length ” served to bring the band to the attention of Prog scene, and, virtually overnight,  garnered them a sizeable international audience thanks to its authentic sound and complex and beautiful song writing.  The Limited edition vinyl will be available in yellow vinyl with red & white marbling, and tracklisting for “Hinterland” is as follows:

1. Serenade for 1652
2. Hinterland
3. Rubato Industry
4. Clair Obscur

The band’s second album “Afterglow” came with a more “retro” feel, not surprisingly so, given that it was a full-band re-recording of WOBBLER’s early demo.  A strong black metal influence can be heard both in the surprising power and aggression of some sections, as well as the structure and tonality of many of the riffs. Paradoxically, “Afterglow” was also a more dyed-in-the-wool proggy prog rock album, with its epic-length compositions and detours into renaissance and baroque music.  With the limited edition available in transparent vinyl with blue & black marbling, tracklisting for “Afterglow” is as follows:

1. The Haywain
2. Imperial Winter White
3. Interlude
4. In Taberna
5. Armoury

Which brings us to 2011’s “Rites at Dawn”, the third of the re-releases.  This was the album that saw WOBBLER up their game considerably, both musically and sonically, with the arrival of Andreas W. S. Prestmo on vocals.  It was his skills as a songwriter and lyricist that would raise the band to a whole new level where vocal melodies, lyrics, arrangements and performances came together in a cohesive whole.

“Rites at Dawn” reflected Andreas’ preoccupations with nature and spirituality in words and music that took on a luminous, mystical nature. It was also an album where Lars’ production skills came to the fore, with a mix that was crystal clear, showcasing each individual musician’s newfound maturity. Martin’s drums had never sounded better, and the intricacies and grooves of his playing were perfectly married to Kristian’s Rickenbacker, that wove its way between Lars and Morten’s labyrinthine chords and leads in a remarkably melodic, yet inventive way.

The limited edition of “Rites at Dawn” will be available in transparent yellow vinyl with blue & black marbling.  Tracklisting is as follows:

1. Lucid
2. Lá Bealtaine
3. In Orbit
4. This Past Presence
5. A Faerie’s Play
6. The River
7. Lucid Dreams

The box set will be a limited edition, one-time pressing,  and will include exclusive coloured vinyl versions of all three albums, along with a slip mat and an illustrated booklet.

All versions are now available to pre-order from:

Webshop:  https://www.karismarecords.no/kar208-kar209-kar210-wobbler/
Bandcamp: https://wobbler.bandcamp.com
US Webshop: https://karismarecords.indiemerch.com

WOBBLER had this to say about the upcoming re-releases:

These albums are what we refer to as “the Morten years”, since Morten Andreas Eriksen was our guitarist on these first three albums, and a very important part of what we were about. “Hinterland” and “Afterglow” also features Tony Johannessen on vocals, making the third album, “Rites at Dawn”, a sort of a transition album between the old Wobbler and the new Wobbler, as it features Andreas on vocals. Musically, these albums are quite diverse. They show different aspects of Wobbler; being the roots of what eventually became “From Silence To Somewhere” and “Dwellers of The Deep”.

With their much anticipated fifth full-length album “Dwellers of the Deep” set for release on Karisma Records on the 23rd October, Prog Rockers WOBBLER have today released “Naiad Dreams”, a new single from the album, together with an  accompanying video for the track.

“Naiad Dreams” is available to stream or download at https://karismarecords.fanlink.to/Naiad_Dreams

Whilst the video, which is a live version of the track, filmed live in Wobblers rehearsal space, can be seen below and on YouTube at https://youtu.be/H0rjTxL15Yg

“Naiad Dreams” is special in the way that it’s our first foray into a short song that stands on its own. It came to life late in the recording process and was written and recorded on an inspired May morning. It’s a rather minimalistic composition with very few elements that gets plenty of room to shine. It is the breathing space on the coming album where playful naiads make you gaze into the depths.

Consisting of four distinctive pieces, “Dwellers of the Deep” is an album that builds on everything that WOBBLER has achieved so far, and takes the band in new musical directions with both carefully planned pieces and passionately jammed compositions. It is an album that is open, detailed, warm and punchy, and one that showcases why WOBBLER is considered to be one of the most exciting and and interesting bands on the global music scene, independent of genre.

Formed in Hønefoss in 1999, WOBBLER’s lineup features Lars Fredrik Frøislie on keyboards and backing vocals, Martin Nordrum Kneppen on drums, percussion and recorder, Kristian Karl Hultgren on bass, Andreas Wettergreen Strømman Prestmo on vocals, guitar, glockenspiel, recorder and percussion and Geir Marius Bergom Halleland on lead guitar and backing vocals.

The production on “Dwellers of the Deep”  highlights the aural idiosyncrasies of the Norwegian quintet, and the  soundscapes put together by Frøislie are a vertitable feast for the ears . With cover illustration by Athanasius Kircher, and graphic design by Thomas Kaldhol , track listing for “Dwellers of the Deep”  is as follows:

Wobbler PR 2020

When WOBBLER’s fifth album “Dwellers of the Deep” hits the streets on the 23rd October, it´s exactly three years since the Norwegian’s last release “From Silence to Somewhere”, and if anyone is expecting an identical album, they may have to think again, because, according to the band, the new album will be a different beast entirely:

When we set out planning the new album we agreed that we couldn´t make the same album over again. With “Silence” we did things without wanting to fit into a progressive box, and the process behind “Dwellers of the Deep” was even more along those lines. In that sense it´s more experimental.

Some songs contain rock blast outs while others provide the calm of a foggy morning in the woods; all have their place in what eventually became a thematic dive into the depths of human emotion. Our take on it, anyway.

“Dwellers of the Deep” promises to serve up an exciting blend of both carefully planned and passionately jammed compositions encompassing everything WOBBLER has done up to now. These new musical directions will no doubt further enhance the quintet’s aural idiosyncrasies, and solidify the band’s burgeoning stature as one of the most exciting and interesting bands on the global music scene, independent of genre.

The production is open, detailed, warm and punchy, making the soundscapes put together by Lars Fredrik Frøislie to an aural feast. “Dwellers of the Deep” will be available in Digipak CD and digital formats, as well as in four different 180 gram gatefold vinyl editions; black vinyl, two different limited edition coloured vinyls, and a limited edition transparent vinyl. All the limited editions come with a poster.

Side A contains two pieces at medium length showcasing the band´s mastery of dynamics and flow, with passages and themes veering from the scenic and serene to the downright rocking.

Side B opens with the welcome respite of four minutes serenity, cradling the listener in pastoral and mystic swathes of acoustic guitar, glockenspiel and gentle vocals before an album closing 19 minutes journey into the unknown with the band in full blast.

Track listing for “Dwellers of the Deep” is as follows:

  1. By the Banks (13:49)
  2. Five Rooms (08:28)
  3. Naiad Dreams (04:24)
  4. Merry Macabre (19:00)

Consisting of four distinctive pieces “Dwellers of the Deep” is a fine example of WOBBLER´s trademark creative whims and playful exuberance, and the band has offered an insight into what fans can expect from the album and what went into its creation:

The recording sessions were somewhat shaped partially by what was happening during the first months of Covid-19.  In a very Decameronesque way, we sent “histories” to each other from our hermitages, while the plague waited in the shadows outside. It contributed to a sense of meaningful gravity, making it crucial that the task at hand be fulfilled with our most sincere and unparalleled endeavours.

The lyrical themes on the album deal with human emotions, and the ongoing struggle between juxtaposed forces within the psyche. An introspective voyage amongst the realms of memories, feelings and instincts, where the light is brighter and the dark is darker. The concepts of wonder, longing and desperation permeates the histories told, and the currents from the deep are ever present. The final track, “Merry Macabre”, is a 19 minute suite taking the listener through aspects of the darker sides of WOBBLER´s sound. It probably sums up what we wanted to express this time around; songs with a weirder tint, an experimental, almost impressionist splitting of themes that at the same time provides a larger frame.

With their new album “From Silence to Somewhere” set for release on Karisma Records the 20th October, Norwegian Symphonic Proggers WOBBER have released a new promo video  comprising excerpts from all  the tracks featured on the album.  The video, by W. S. Prestmo, can be seen below and at https://youtu.be/8oSoXeftEvw

The four-track release  comes in with a running time of 47 minutes, and, as  Andreas Wettergreen Strømman Prestmo (Vocals and Guitars) says, the band is excited to give fans a glimpse into  what they can expect from the new album, which has taken WOBBLER  in the region of four to five years to complete.  The band admits that they took their time in order to achieve what they consider to be their best album to date, and which sees a more introspective WOBBLER exploring darker themes.

Having said that, “From Silence to Somewhere” nevertheless feels  like a natural progression from the band’s previous release.  Flamenco and Italian Renaissance music can be heard weaving their way subtly through the melancholy harmonies that are combined with powerful crescendos and high-energy, spinet-driven passages, whilst the guitar riffs range from the poignant to the edgy.

Fans of WOBBLER’s trademark sound have nothing to worry about though, with the band making good use of Mellotron, Moog, Hammond, Chamberlin and other classical analogue keyboards, and of course the renowned Rickenbacker Bass.

With artwork by Thomas Kaldhol (Samuel Jackson 5, Panzerpappa, Lukas Kasha etc), “From Silence to Somewhere” will be available in either CD Digipak or Jewel Case formats, each with a 12 page booklet, as well as in  Digital format.  LPs will be available in both standard black or in a limited edition Transparent orange/black marble vinyl limited to 500 copies only.  Tracklisting on “From Silence to Somewhere” is as follows:

1. From Silence to Somewhere
2. Rendered in Shades of Green
3. Fermented Hours
4. Foxlight

With just over a month to go until the release of “From Silence to Somewhere”,  the fourth full-length album from Norway’s leading Symphonic Prog band WOBBLER,  Karisma Records have released a promo video which not only gives fans a taste of the music they can expect to hear, but also an insight into the band itself.

It is a fascinating glimpse into the workings of a group of people  who, as they have matured and grown together as individuals and as musicians,  have quite considerably changed the way they write and make their music.   And most noticeably it is an example of a close and enduring friendship amongst the members of WOBBLER that gives the individual  musicians the confidence to change, and exchange, ideas in a way that often takes an original idea in a completely unexpected direction, without egos getting in the way, and having a lot of fun while they do it.

The video can be seen below and at https://youtu.be/sqrqPG7MZwk

“From Silence to Somewhere”, which is set for release on the 20th October,  is comprised of four epic tracks that explore the idea of metamorphosis and alchemy.  WOBBLER’s trademark sound, which makes use of copious amounts of Mellotron, Moog, Hammond, Chamberlin and other classical analogue keyboards, and of course the renowned Rickenbacker Bass,  is very much in evidence.
