KVELERTAK AND OFERMOD MEMBERS TO JOIN ALFAHANNE ON STAGE FOR UPCOMING SHOWS

With their second full-length album appearing in various “Best Of 2015 Releases” lists, and work beginning on a follow up, Sweden’s self-styled “Alfapokalyptic” rockers ALFAHANNE will be joined on stage by special guests during a couple of the band’s upcoming shows. OFERMOD’s R. Fjäll will appear with ALFAHANNE during their show at Copperfield’s in Stockholm on the 6th of February, and once again when the band plays on the Close-Up Båten Cruise which sets sail from Stockholm on the 10th of March. Also joining them on stage during the cruise will be KVELERTAK frontman Erlend Hjelvik.

ALFAHANNE are definitely no strangers to appearing either on stage or in the studio, and frequently both, with special guests who have included some iconic names in Extreme Metal, including TAAKE’s Hoest, SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, HELHEIM’s V’gandr, HORNA’s Spellgoth, SORHIN’s Nattfursth, and KVELERTAK’s Erlend Hjelvik. It is a testament to the band’s musical appeal that they have been able to tempt artists such as these to collaborate with them, whilst frontman Pehr Skjoldhammer has, in turn, guested on the latest album from HELHEIM and has frequently worked with SHINING and Niklas Kvarforth.

With their first two albums released on Dark Essence Records and a couple of decades of experience in bands such as VINTERLAND and early MAZE OF TORMENT, ALFAHANNE’s lineup is comprised of Pehr Skjoldhammer on Vocals and Guitar, Fredrik Sööberg on Guitars, Niklas Åström on Drums and Jimmy Wiberg on Bass. ALFAHANNE DEBUTS TRACK FEATURING KVELERTAK FRONTMAN FROM UPCOMING ALBUM

The 11th September will see the release on Dark Essence Records of ALFAHANNE’s sophomore full-length album “Blod Eld Alfa”, and today the label has debuted one of the nine tracks from the album. The track, “Skallerormsgift”, which actually received its first ever public airing on BBC Radio One last week, features KVELERTAK frontman Erlend Hjelvik on guest vocals and can be heard below and at https://soundcloud.com/dark-essence-records/alfahanne-skallerormsgift-featuring-kvelertaks-erlend-hjelvik

Well known both on stage and in the studio for their brand of high energy Black Metal laced with Punk and Classic Rock, ALFAHANNE is a band that, since its inception in 2010, has managed to attract high profile musicians to guest with them not only on their releases but also live. TAAKE’s Hoest, HELHEIM’s V’gandr and SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth all featured on the debut album “Alfapokalyps”, whilst on the new album, as well as Hjelvik, Spellgoth from HORNA and TURMION KÄTILÖT and Nattfursth from SORHIN add their distinctive styles and voices to the release. Also making a return appearance is SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, with whom ALFAHANNE has a history of collaboration.

Thanks to a very popular competition run by the band and their label Dark Essence Records, fans of Sweden’s “Alfapokalyptic Rockers” ALFAHANNE will all be aware by now that the band who managed to attract the likes of TAAKE’s Hoest, SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth and HELHEIM’s V’gandr to guest on their debut album, have managed to pull some more significant guests out of the hat for their upcoming sophomore full-length album “Blod Eld Alfa”, which is scheduled for release on the 11th September. Joining them this time out will be KVELERTAK frontman Erlend Hjelvik, Spellgoth from HORNA and TURMION KÄTILÖT, and Nattfursth from SORHIN. SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, with whom ALFAHANNE has a history of collaboration, also makes a return appearance.

The nine-track “Blod Eld Alfa” was mastered by ENSLAVED’s Herbrand Larsen at Bergen’s Earshot Studios, and features ALFAHANNE’s trademark high-energy mix of Black Metal, Punk, Classic Rock and New Wave – elements that combine together to create a unique sound full of the swagger and attitude that makes the band such a success both in the studio and on the stage.

HORNA frontman Spellgoth will be joining KVELERTAK’s Erlend Hjelvik, SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, and SORHIN’s Nattfursth on the upcoming album from Swedish “Alfapokalyptic” Rockers ALFHANNE, who, together with their label Dark Essence Records, have been running a competition over the past couple of months, inviting fans to guess the guests and win a copy of the new album.

“The competition has been a lot of fun for us” commented the band, “and hopefully the fans have enjoyed it too – we’ve certainly been receiving entries from all parts of the world. Our guests on this album are all from quite different bands, and are are musicians for whom we have a great admiration and we were more than excited when they agreed to perform guest vocals. From the comments we’ve been getting it seems that the fans feel the same way too. Over the past few weeks fans of Sweden’s ALFAHANNE have been having a bit of fun by entering a competition to win a copy of the band’s next album by guessing who the guests will be on the upcoming release. For those who were not already aware, ALFAHANNE, a band known for their interaction with fans, together with their label Dark Essence Records, have been running a “Guess the Guest” competition in the run up to the release of the band’s sophomore full-length album later this year. When ALFAHANNE and Dark Essence Records announced their first “Guess the Guest” competition recently they were pretty sure that the clues would be very easy for fans of the band. And sure enough the entries poured in as fans guessed that the first guest on the band’s upcoming album would be none other than SHINING frontman and founder NIKLAS KVARFORTH. An easy one to guess since Kvarforth had already worked with ALFAHANNE both in the studio and live, with his most recent collaboration with the band being a surprise appearance on stage with them at Incineration Festival in London.

With three more guests to reveal, the second competition was launched today, and this time the clues might not seem as easy to many of their followers. “This guest is someone we have admired for many years now, but he will probably be the most difficult one to guess. However, we’ve provided enough information so that with a little bit of research it shouldn’t be too hard to work out who it is” commented the band. The clues are as follows:

1) This guest sings in a classic Swedish Black Metal band from Borlänge which started out in 1993 but is currently on hiatus.

2) This guest has released some classic Black Metal underground albums, one of them being “Apokalypsens ängel”

3) This guest’s band released their later albums on their own label Svartvintras Productions

4) In 2008 Norma Evangelium Diaboli released this guest’s box set Förbannade år 1993-2001.

When details of ALFAHANNE’s debut full-length album “Alfapokalyps” were revealed prior to the album’s release on Dark Essence Records early last year, many were surprised to find that the Swedish band, who at that time were relatively unknown, had managed to attract guest appearances from artists such as TAAKE’s Hoest, SHINING’s Niklas Kvarforth, and HELHEIM’s V’gandr. But ALFAHANNE can claim a lineup of musicians that have been on the Black Metal scene since the early ’90’s in bands such as VINTERLAND and early MAZE OF TORMENT , and their reputation for high octane live shows and their self-styled Alfapokalyptic Rock, which is a high energy mix of Black Metal, Classic Rock and Punk, has since garnered them a legion of new fans throughout the world and proved to be more than enough to win the respect of other established musicians.

So much so, in fact, that the band’s sophomore full-length album, which is scheduled for release in September of this year, will include four special guests, and, in keeping with the band’s policy of being accessible to their fans through Social Media, ALFAHANNE have teamed up with DARK ESSENCE RECORDS to run a competition in the run-up to the release of the album.

“We really enjoy interacting with our fans, so we thought it would be fun to get them involved in guessing who the guests on our new album will be”, commented the band. “Over the next weeks we will be featuring one of the guests and giving you a series of clues as to who it is. ALFAHANNE’s debut full-length album “Alfapokalyps”, includes guest appearances from Hoest himself, as well as from TAAKE’s bass player V’gandr.

“Stridens hus” is recorded and produced by Bjornar E. Nilsen at his Conclave and Earshot Studios in Bergen. As with all TAAKE albums, frontman and founder Hoest plays all the instruments himself, with a few more or less prominent guests. Album artwork from a photo by Nekrographie. TAAKE, whose Helnorsk Svartmetall sound has elevated them to iconic status not only on the Norwegian Black Metal scene, but world-wide, also recently released a four-track MCD on Svartekunst Produksjoner. Entitled “Kulde” and limited to 700 copies, “Kulde” contains guest appearances from CARPATHIAN FOREST’s Daniel Vrangsinn and VULTURE INDUSTRIES’ Bjornar E. Nilsen.

HELHEIM’s V’GANDR TO MAKE GUEST APPEARANCE AT THE DARK ESSENCE RECORDS INFERNO FESTIVAL EVENT

DARK ESSENCE RECORDS plans to make their annual Inferno Festival event a little different this yea when they join forces with sister label KARISMA RECORDS to showcase two of their bands each at Blå on Wednesday 16th April. “We are always conscious of the fact that while many of Dark Essence’s artists such as TAAKE tour frequently, and fans in Europe have a good chance of seeing them live, the Karisma artists tend to tour much less, so we thought that this year we would open up the event to give their fans a chance to see some of them, and introduce them to Dark Essence’s fans at the same time”, commented the label’s Martin Kvam.

Representing Dark Essence will be two bands whose recent releases have been getting rave reviews from press and fans alike. First up will be SLEGEST, the new project from former VREID guitarist Ese, who has skilfully blended classic heavy rock and old-school black metal to produce a sound that is both dark and sinister, and with an unmistakably down and dirty catchy groove that weaves its way through the music. Originally started as a one-man project, once the debut full-length album “Løyndom” was released at the end of 2013, it quickly became clear that the demand from fans to see SLEGEST perform live was such that Ese was persuaded to form a fully functioning band. Joining them will be Sweden’s ALFAHANNE, whose lineup includes members of bands such as VINTERLAND and early MAZE OF TORMENT, and who have come together to play what they themselves have called ”Alfapocalyptic Rock”, a fascinating and hard-hitting mix of Black Metal, Classic Rock and Punk with some Goth influences . Their high-energy live performances have garnered them much praise. Making a guest appearance on stage with ALFAHANNE, will be HELHEIM’s V’gandr who performed vocals on one of the tracks from the band’s new album “Alfapokalyps” . It is a tribute to ALFAHANNE that they were able to attract not only V’gandr to make a guest appearance on the album, but also Dark Essence label-mates Hoest from TAAKE and Niklas Kvarforth from SHINING. Making an appearance for Karisma will be two bands, representing the new and the established. Lovers of Prog Rock cannot fail to recognise the name of AIRBAG, a band known the world-over for an exquisite musical craftsmanship that enables its musicians to create a sonic experience ranging from massive walls of sound, to ambient textures and soulful soundscapes, both in the studio and on stage. The release of AIRBAG’s third full-length album “The Greatest Show on Earth” at the end of last year confirmed the band’s status in the world of prog, earning them many accolades. Inferno will be one of the very few chancesthat to catch this incredible band live this year so it is an opportunity that should not be missed. One for fans of ANATHEMA. The second of the Karisma bands is one of their latest signings, SEVEN IMPALE. The release of the digital EP “Beginning/Relieve” last year gave an indication of the multi-faceted nature of these young musicians. With its member drawn from a range of disciplines including classical orchestra, big band, metal, jazz, rock and electronic music, their sound ranges from progressive and jazzy to the softer and more melodic to the harder and edgier. They bring a freshness and enthusiasm to their live performances, and it is anticipated that their debut full-length album later this year will more than meet expectations, setting them apart from many other new arrivals on the scene.
